Hermitage Roanoke

From our first visit to the Hermitage we felt welcomed and at home. The staff, residences, and administration were warm and inviting. The facilities were always clean, comfortable, and appealing. Patti Beckley went far and above to walk with us through exploring and finally choosing the Hermitage. No question was insignificant. We were always patiently given time to reflect on decisions and offered generous explanations of the community’s programs, expenses, and facilities. With each step, Mrs Beckley smoothed the path to welcome my brother to the community. Most reassuring was the fact that the “invisible” corporate power, operating beyond our purview, made itself heard and felt in genuine and reassuring ways. It was clear we were not viewed just as a consumer. We were individuals being welcomed to a community. I am confident we made the best choice of a senior living community.

I was hesitant to write a review since we ended up moving my Mom to another residence, mostly because of the location and urgency. (We're in North Carolina but also researched options in Roanoke.) Hermitage was so patient and supportive of us through our search - and the place is gorgeous. It was a very difficult choice to make not to move my Mom there - but everything I learned about them was positive. If you are looking for a responsible, supportive placement for someone in your life, please consider Hermitage seriously. They seem wonderful.

I cannot say enough great things about Hermitage, the staff, and the residents. My 83 year old Grandma did a respite stay at Hermitage for almost two weeks. Everyday when I would call her, she had great things to say about the staff, the residents she met, and the wonderful food! It warmed my heart to hear that she was enjoying her time there. When I picked her up, she would not stop talking about how much she enjoyed her visit. She got on the phone and called everyone she knew and told them too. Many Thanks to Christine and all the staff at Hermitage for making my Grandma feel safe and comfortable for her short stay. We will utilize Hermitage's services in the future and I would highly recommend Hermitage to anyone!

My mother has lived in both independent and assisted living housing at the Hermitage for 9 years. I visit her often and always find it a pleasant place— and the meals are delicious. She has never complained, and she often speaks of the care and kindness shown her by the chaplain, activities personnel, and dining room staff. During this pandemic, I’m sure the Hermitage is doing everything possible to keep its residents safe.

We moved my parents to the Hermitage last February and have been very pleased with the care and opportunities there. It is much more like living in a home than an institutional facility. The staff have all been fantastic with my parents and we are grateful for how they take care of them.
