This facility is poorly run. Very little compassion from staff. My mom was given the wrong meds. They were the meds from the next door resident. Luckily she could tell and did not take them. That could have been disastrous. That is potential involuntary manslaughter! Staff was often rude and snide with their remarks. The food that should be hot was often cold. The food was terrible. They never fixed the a/c in the dining room and so in the summer they handed out styrofoam boxes and had the residents eat in their rooms. Then, instead of fixing the a/c, they moved the dining tables and chairs into the main entranceway of the facility. Pathetic. She had 12 hospital visits in 8 months. Ridiculous. This is someone who is normally very healthy. Her mental and physical health declined while she was at Heron House. I knew if I didn't get her out of there, she was going to die sooner than later. I finally was able to get her out and this was met with bitter and vindictive attitude of the director. Very unprofessional atmosphere. Very uncompassionate. Worst experience of my or my mother's life.

This place is disgusting. Low staffing, horrible food, seldom ever fruits with meals, Rarely any fresh vegetables and the patients that don't show up right on time have to have a hotdog because they don't make enough food for everyone. There is no selection for patients on any dietary restrictions.. The dining area is non existent anymore. They closed it down 3 months ago, claiming the oven was broke. An excuse for their lack of staffing. (Money saving) They have all the patients eating in the lobby at meal time now and replaced all the plates, glasses and silverware with styrofoam containers, styrofoam cups and plastic utensils so they don't have to wash dishes. It is infested with cockroaches crawling all over the place. So many, they bomb the rooms and they still come back. This is because the patients rooms are loaded with them and they go back and forth. They are crawling on the walls, coming through cracks and even through the outlets. Patients have stated they found them in their hair. The halls smell like urine because patients who should be in full care are in standard rooms wetting themselves and making the entire place smell like urine because they leave their doors open. These patients also are the one's with the roaches due to being unable to clean up after themselves. This place is completely mis-managed and no doubt not by the managers fault alone. We know the owners who buy these places. want to spend as little as possible in order to make more money. These places are businesses before anything else. Care is last in placement. This place should be examined with a fine tooth comb by AHCA. I would imagine the 5 stars are by management and/or associates. "Healthcare," should be two words not one and never on the same page.

Heron House in Largo is truly a remarkable assisted living facility. As a guardian for a resident with many unique quirks, I have witnessed firsthand the exceptional care and kindness provided by the staff. Every team member goes above and beyond to ensure that he feels comfortable, respected, and valued. The environment at Heron House is warm and welcoming, with a genuine family-like atmosphere that sets it apart from other facilities. The staff are not only highly professional and skilled, but also incredibly patient and compassionate. They take the time to understand and cater to each resident’s individual needs, making sure they feel right at home. What impresses me the most is how the staff at Heron House consistently treat my ward with the utmost dignity and respect, despite his quirks. Their dedication to providing personalized care is evident in every interaction, and it brings me immense peace of mind knowing he is in such capable and caring hands. Heron House in Largo is a beacon of excellence in assisted living, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a compassionate and supportive environment for their loved ones.

My sister moved to this facility in January. She has shown remarkable improvement in every facet of her life. She shows greater mobility, social interaction, healthy eating habits, and a greater interest in every day activities. This was a very positive move for her and I attribute this to the wonderful staff who show caring and patient actions on a daily basis. Thank you Heron House‼️

Updated Review - We moved my sister into Heron House in March of 2020 and I left a positive review at that time and 3+ years later I want to update it. Heron House continues to be a wise choice for placement of my sister. Since 2020 She has made it her home and participates in chapel, crafts, games, decorating and whatever else she can do to keep busy with her time. They have a very busy activity calendar and provide fun entertainment for their residents. The staff has been nothing but supportive and loving towards her. They make it possible for her, even with her disabilities, to feel cared for and loved. It is very difficult to make the decision to move a loved one into an assisted living facility however, Heron House was a GREAT choice and I am now happy we choose it for her.
