Adrienne and I moved into Heron's Key a bit over four years ago, following visits with and glowing reports from my sister and her husband, who moved here virtually the nanosecond the place opened. We've been delighted with the community -- on campus and off. There are endless activities, cultural, educational, civic and just plain fun. We've found the staff to be delightful and responsive to our needs, and our fellow residents to be fascinating, outgoing, welcoming people with hardly a pretentious soul among them. Heron's Key is a place where it's easy to build friendships, to celebrate one another's achievements. Oh, and our dogs really like the place, too.

I moved into Heron’s Key on Day 1 of Week 2 of its opening in 2017. After more than 8 years, I count it as one of the best decisions I ever made. The fact that Heron’s Key is a Level A Life Care Community was my major focus at the time. I wanted the assurance that what I paid for care, if I should need Memory Care or Skilled Nursing, would not increase beyond what I would pay for Independent Living. I got that assurance. What I didn’t realize at the time was the fact that the people who live here were to soon become some of the best friends I have ever had. Residents at Heron’s Key are happy, bright, well educated, involved in the community and always willing to help others. It’s a great place to live no matter what your age. There are other pluses! The staff is competent and caring, the activities are plentiful and many are resident-run. The food is comparable to a fine restaurant both in variety and number of menu items. The quality of the meals is outstanding, and the prices make one think twice about cooking at home! Heron’s Key is a wonderful place to come home to.

Enjoyed Heron's Key now for almost 3 years. Amazing Five Star facility but what is most amazing is the culture with the residents and staff here. Heron's Key residents are like family---so many caring, wonderful, extraordinary neighbors. They are truly like family. The staff are exceptional. A prospective resident won't see that up front--it is what makes this place special. The reason we are here---the knowledge that all four levels of top level care are right here at this facility--independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing and memory care. We absolutely know the quality of the facilities right here. When that care is needed---that value of that benefit becomes abundantly clear. that Finally, the quality of the mostly resident led programs from informative, educational or just plain entertainment are amazing. Could not begin to participate in all of them.

I was among the first residents moving into Heron’s Key in 2017. I love my home. The staff is fabulous. I enjoy Gig Harbor. The other HK residents are friendly, diverse and interesting. A calendar of opportunities is always full of choices. One can comfortably choose none, a few, or many from the activity calendar. Someday I may need the resources of Penrose and when that time comes my kids don’t have to worry or give up their lives. This CCRC is the best.
