Kelly Gardens Residential Care

I always read reviews before touring a potential long-term home for my mother. I’m deeply disturbed by the most recent review describing staff openly stating they do not support the LGBTQIA+ community. My mother, who lives with PTSD, BPD, COPD, and CHF, is also a proud lesbian and open about who she is. Seeing comments like this immediately raises serious concerns about whether residents would receive unbiased, respectful, and safe care. Everyone is entitled to personal beliefs, but publicly expressing views that disparage a protected community, especially while holding a leadership role in healthcare, is completely inappropriate. As a Director of Health/Director of Nursing, professionalism and nondiscrimination are not optional. I am an RN with 12 years of experience, and I would never publicly share personal beliefs in a way that could make families question whether their loved one would be treated differently. This behavior is unprofessional and undermines trust in the care being provided. Because of this, my mother will not be considered for residency at this facility. I hope other families read reviews carefully, because you truly never know who is responsible for your loved one’s care behind the scenes. Facilities can look very different during a tour than they do in practice. While you describe this as a “personal matter,” the concern raised is about an individual in a healthcare leadership role publicly expressing views that raise questions about their ability to provide unbiased care to all residents. That is not something families should have to overlook when considering a facility for their loved ones. Out of concern for resident welfare and professional standards, I have already forwarded the matter to the appropriate oversight and licensing authorities for review. Because of the nature of the concern, I do not feel comfortable addressing this privately with facility leadership. Families rely on transparency when making decisions about long-term care, and issues that could impact trust in resident care deserve appropriate attention.

This building brings a wonderful new level of care and services to the Gresham area. The meals, the activities and the staff radiate the love and affection given to their resident population. I would highly recommend placing a loved one here.

Although my experience with Kelly Gardens has been brief, I've found the atmosphere to be incredibly welcoming and inclusive. The community members are friendly and supportive, fostering a positive environment for growth and connection. I have really enjoyed working with the staff at Whitewood Gardens at City Center. The staff has been very communicative and has been very quick to address any issues that have arisen. They have been extremely supportive through all of the health issues my Dad has experienced. Each staff member knows me by name and goes out of their way to greet me. The most important thing is that my Dad is happy there. He has consistently said that how much he appreciates his care team and the level of kindness they display toward him.
