KEMPTON OF CHARLESTON

I cannot say enough good things about Renee Chavis at Kempton. From start to finish, she went above and beyond to make sure my mother’s needs were met with care, clarity, and compassion. Renee was consistently communicative, thorough, and incredibly encouraging during a very stressful time for our family. She made herself available at regular intervals, kept us informed every step of the way, and always followed up exactly when she said she would. There was never a moment where we felt in the dark or unsure about next steps. What stood out most was her genuine investment. She didn’t treat this as just another case to manage. She approached our situation with empathy, professionalism, and a steady reassurance that meant more than I can put into words. When you’re navigating complex healthcare decisions for someone you love, having a person like Renee in your corner makes all the difference. It is truly refreshing to work with someone so dependable, responsive, and kind during a time of greatest need. Kempton is fortunate to have her, and so are the families she serves.

My husband spent 18 days in skilled nursing/rehab at The Kempton of Charleston. All of The Kempton fifth floor staff were very attentive to his changing needs and delivered care with respect, expertise, smiles and kindness. Staff checked on him regularly and didn’t wait for him to press the call button. A special shout out to Renee, Santino, Diane, and Caroline for your compassion and care that extended to the whole family. I highly recommend The Kempton of Charleston. The facility is bright, clean and welcoming. The staff is professional, caring and responsive.

My 93-year-old mother was in two Assisted Living facilities prior to Kempton, and Kempton is hands down the best. Of course she would rather be living at home, but she comments on how good the food is and how they take good care of her. The place is clean, with good scheduled activities appropriate for age and mental status. Communication with family is also very good and we’ve had no problems with medication mixups like in previous facilities. They also have dinners and socials sometimes - and invite family members to attend - which I think is nice. I recommend Kempton!

Our family’s experience with Kempton of Charleston has been wonderful! We felt my mother really needed to make a move and we feel so much more comfortable and secure now that she is a Kempton of Charleston resident. Lisa McLeod met with us more than once, gave us a comprehensive tour, answered our questions, and let us know when the right unit for us was coming available. Upon move-in, many staff came by to introduce themselves and offered their personal cell phone numbers, encouraging us to reach out with any concerns. We filled Mom’s spacious 1-BR apartment with her beloved furniture, pictures, & treasures and she feels right at home. After a few weeks of settling in, Mom is connecting with other residents and engaging in activities - of which there are many. The meals are delicious and the dining room beautiful. A special shout out to the 3rd floor staff who have worked with us to get Mom’s medication schedule & dosages all worked out. The people here truly care about her and that means the world to us!

I live in PA and I was in a very tough spot with finding good care for my mother who was in the hospital . She needed a rehab facility. I read a ton of reviews of assisted living in Charleston. I really wanted the Kempton from reviews plus word of mouth. There was not a bed available on Friday. I flew into Charleston on Saturday and called the Kempton again and spoke to Renee Chavis. She was so very kind and understood how I was feeling even on a Saturday afternoon. She absolutely bent over backwards for me and my mother. There was a bed available Monday and she made it happen within a few hours. The transport van driver, Greg could not have been kinder. When we arrived today the transition was so very smooth. The staff could not have been kinder. The place is beautiful and welcoming. My mother was so grateful for everyone that worked so hard on her behalf. I believe this will give her encouragement to rehab and make it back home. Thank you Kempton Staff for all you do!!
