La Solana Assisted Living Home is the home away from home where you want your loved ones to live. The residents are treated with love, dignity and respect. The home cooked meals are absolutely delicious and fresh, as there is an experienced Chef in the house trained in the international cuisine. The home is impeccably clean at all times and there is a warm, friendly, peaceful ambiance as residents are interacting with each other. I highly recommend you take a tour of La Solana

I am an RN that helps managers and or owners with their service plans. In all my visits to this house I have only seen good care administered to the residents. The home has always been very clean in appearance and in talking with resident, they all seem to be very happy to be there and appreciate everything that is being done for them. The staff is very responsive to resident needs and when I happen to be there during lunch or dinner the food is prepped from scratch and not frozen meals that are reheated which is what you typically see in other homes.

I strongly urge anyone considering putting a loved one there to NOT do so. I put my mom there on September 29th. She was able to walk using her walker with assistance and she was able to eat and drink. She had a bad bed sore from sitting in her recliner too much so the staff was supposed to make sure she slept on her side by propping her up with pillows. They were also supposed to use barrier cream on her bedsore. Instead they put her in bed flat on her back, put her in diapers they could change easily since it was quicker than helping her walk to the bathroom, and imo they didn't make sure she was eating and drinking enough. I had chosen this place partly because she would have a roommate in the right mind who had been a teacher like her and because there was a sitting room next to the bedroom where she could visit with guests somewhat privately. Without asking me if I would mind , they moved her to a different bedroom where the roommate was a woman who was out of her mind and dying from overusing drugs . And there was no where to sit comfortably and visit somewhat privately with my mom . But the worst thing was when I got a call just 3 weeks aftermy mom had been there telling me she was in ICU and might not make it through the night. Her kidneys were shutting down because she was severely dehydrated and she had lost a lot of weight rapidly from not eating enough food. She had a blood clot in her leg from laying flat on her back so much, and she had an infection on her genitals and more bedsores because they had been using anti fungal cream instead of the barrier cream we gave them. Thankfully the doctors and nurses were able to save my mom and she is now living at a different assisted living home where they are taking excellent care of her and doing all the things they have promised to do. Beatrice at La Solana refused to reimburse me for the10 days my mom wasn't there even though my mom's contract clearly stated that she would have the rent prorated and returned if they were unable to take care of her. There was no way I would ever send my mom back there! My mom now has a mound of hospital bills . My two sisters also went into debt flying out to help me move my mom again. I don't think anyone at La Solana intentionally tried to hurt or kill my mother. I just think they are too inexperienced and uneducated in this profession. And even though they seemed sincerely sorry that my mom became so ill while in their care, they weren't sorry enough to return her 10 days of rent to help pay her hospital bill. I think that speaks volumes about their ethics. There are a LOT of assisted care living facilities in the Phoenix area. I wish I'd done more research before choosing La Solana.
