All this place does is make our neighborhood worse. It contributes noice and exhaust and makes my once nice neighborhood unlivable. There is constant droning of heavy machinery and the employees and residents are deadly on the road. It’s just awful. It ruins the night sky. I grew up in the area and used to play in the woods behind the now sprawling eyesore. Get lost.

I called to get information about having someone admitted and spoke with Cecelia. She was amazing!!! She was able to walk me through the information I needed, and answer all of the questions I had. Once admitted the staff was patient and helpful. Thank you Cecelia for your time, assistance, and patience. D. Whitlow

I would give zero stars if I could. My mother had a stroke and was here for rehabilitation. Well, it started off good, the building is beautiful, great food but had I known what I know now I would have never left my mother under their care. I even expressed my concerns to the administrator of health services as well as the director of nursing and the assistant director of nursing on April 17, 2025. I received an email from Jessica Clarke the administrator of health services, stating they are investigating my concerns and will get back to me on April 21, 2025, to discuss my complaint. Well, it is now two months later, and I never heard anything back from anyone and I moved my mom to a different facility where the staff actually did their job, and my mom has been discharged and is back at home. I have too many issues to type on this review but just to name a few. My mother was admitted to the hospital back in April. I was at the facility "EVERYDAY" but unfortunately on this particular day I was in bed sick with the flu, so I sent my son up there to check on my mom only for him to call me and saying she's not there. Well, I had to find out from the hospital my mother arrived at the 7:00 a.m. and I did not find out until 7:00 p.m. that night because no one at the facility bothered to call me or any of the other emergency contacts they were given. My mother had three visits to the ER while under their care and it's amazing that once I moved her to a new facility she was not admitted to the hospital not one time and as stated above, she is at home. After her last visit to the hospital visit, I was going to send her back to Lakewood because she was familiar with this facility and she has dementia. I was also going to rearrange my schedule to be with her more during the day instead of the evening. Anyway, the case worker had her already set to move, I spoke with the lady from admissions, she gave me my mom's room number only for administration to call the exact same day stating my mom could not come back due to too many hospitalizations. So, I had admissions telling me one thing and administration tell the case worker at the hospital something different. This was unacceptable since the hospitalizations were due to their neglect. The nursing staff knew she had a stroke and if family was not there most of the time she would not eat because she was unable to feed herself. The staff would drop her tray off and leave. I read a comment that said don't be fooled by the fancy food and pretty building, now I know exactly what she meant by that comment.

I cannot say enough about the Lakewood Retirement Community! After years of looking and comparing continuing care communities my parents have recently moved into an independent living unit at Lakewood. Throughout this daunting process Alden Rice and Amy Curry were at our sides offering assistance, advice, and tremendous support that went above and beyond what is expected. Now as my parents are settling in to their new lives at Lakewood, we are all reminded how incredible ( and long overdue) this move was for their mental and physical health! Lakewood is the friendliest place on Earth… staff and residents included. The amenities abound including: state-of-the-art facilities, fine and casual dining, outdoor, indoor, independent, and group activities. Easy access to health and wellness resources, including on site medical care and therapies if needed. My parents’ unit is bright, updated, convenient to everything on the Lakewood campus and they have easy access to information through an online application on their phones or a monthly magazine as to the abundance of daily activities offered there on site. My family is thrilled knowing my parents are active, engaged, safe, and embracing this incredible new, stress-free lifestyle! We all wish they had moved in before their mid 70’s!

We moved mom into Lakewood in December of 2022, and it has been a great experience for her. The staff has been incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. The "campus" is beautiful. The facilities are first rate - the gym, the pool, the dining rooms, etc. And there is always something going on - celebrations, dances, shows, trips. Seems she has a more active lifestyle than her kids and grandkids now! Most importantly, Mom is happier than she's been in a long time. And surrounded by friends. We cannot say enough good things about Lakewood.
