Our family could not be more grateful for the care my mother receives at The Landing at Saco Bay, where she has been living in memory care for the past seven months. From day one, the staff has been kind, caring, professional, empathetic, honest, and incredibly knowledgeable. They have created a truly homey atmosphere where residents—and their families—are made to feel like part of one big family. Our first impression of The Landing (with the admissions staff) was outstanding. Briana was excellent and made our transition to The Landing so seamless and comfortable for Mom. Communication is outstanding. The staff keeps us informed every step of the way, which provides tremendous peace of mind. The facility itself is clean, bright, and welcoming. The new ownership is planning thoughtful physical plant improvements while also continuously adding new programs and activities. That said, it is truly the staff that makes all the difference here. Jessica, the Director, is exceptional. She is welcoming, kind, professional, and deeply empathetic. She is always approachable and readily available whenever residents or family members need her. Jessica is a wonderful communicator, very hands-on, and takes the time to genuinely get to know each resident and their family. The activities staff is phenomenal. Megan, Denise, and Ali bring so much energy, warmth, and creativity to everything they do. They meet residents wherever they are on their memory care journey and consistently find ways to engage them. My mother was never one to exercise or participate in group activities, yet now she attends exercise classes and daily activities such as dancing to favorite oldies, concerts, crafts, and more. The activities team works tirelessly to include everyone. The Landing also brings in guest performers, artists, and other experts in various interesting fields. The nurses and caregivers in each “neighborhood” are professional, friendly, and incredibly kind. They are top-notch and highly trained in all things related to memory care and caring for patients at all levels of the disease. It amazes me how they care for each resident on such a personal level—learning their personalities, preferences, and needs, and treating each person as if they were the only resident there. I cannot say enough about this team, including Michelle, Tiana, and so many others who make such a difference every day. The dining experience is another highlight. The chef ensures residents receive healthy, well-balanced meals, and the kitchen staff bakes homemade treats daily (families are welcome to enjoy them too!). Snacks are always available. Our family shared a delicious Christmas Day lunch with my mom there—the beef bourguignon may have even been better than mine at home! The front desk staff, including Renee, are friendly, organized, responsive, and extremely helpful. The outdoor spaces are secure (fenced-in/locked), yet the residents cannot tell that they are locked in and in NO danger of wandering off. The gardens and patios are lovely; my mom especially enjoys sitting outside during the warmer months with coffee or tea, watching the birds at the feeders. The resident gathering room is also a favorite, with good movies always playing and residents enjoying time together. Choosing a memory care facility is never easy, but The Landing has exceeded our expectations in every way. We are deeply thankful for the compassion, dedication, and genuine care shown to my mother and our entire family. And the most important thing is that Mom is truly happy there. She has an excellent balance of privacy and socialization every day, and she is very content with her quality of life in her new home.

The Landing is a beautiful small memory care in Saco. Tucked into a little wooded space in downtown, it is quiet, clean, and very welcoming. The food, atmosphere, and staff are wonderful. They keep the residents engaged and provide excellent care. Would highly recommend!

A smaller community with a lot of love to share. The staff care about their residents and there are always activities happening. The building is clean and the individual apartments are spacious with their own bathrooms and showers. Highly recommend anyone needing to place a loved one in memory care to consider Saco Bay. When you leave there you trust your loved one is being taken care of.

We moved my mother to another memory care facility just 2 months after she entered The Landing at Saco Bay. It was that BAD! My mother’s neighborhood had a strong scent of urine! Apparently a few men just pee in the carpeted hallways. Until I complained the facility didn’t even own a carpet cleaner. But, to be honest the carpet cleaner did not remove that disgusting scent. Residents had no temperature control in their rooms. My mother’s room was oppressively HOT 24 hours a day. Just imagine the combination of heat and urine. When power in town was lost this past winter, there was no back up plan. Phone lines were down and families could not connect with the facility for updates. The generator only took care of the Hallways and Common Rooms. The resident rooms had NO heat, NO electricity and NO lights! Laundry was a constant issue. Although I was told that each resident’s laundry was done in single loads, I kept finding other people’s clothes in my mother’s drawers. Then there were the pieces of clothing that just went “missing”. Residents pay over $10,000.00 per month at the Landing at Saco Bay. For 10 grand I would expect meals to be more than a slice of Dominoes pizza and a cup of soda, or hot dogs & beans. The day we were packing up my mother’s belongings to bring her to a nearby wonderful memory care facility, I noticed there was zero toilet paper in her bathroom. No back up roll either. This was not the first time either. There was even feces on her shower seat. I understand things happen, but staff should be responsible enough to clean up such messes as part of their duties. My mother was a new person within one day after leaving The Landing at Saco Bay. Yes, she still has vascular dementia, however she’s getting around much better, she’s enjoying meals at large tables with delicious entrees and she even has choices. Family members are even allowed to dine with their loved one if they like. She has her own room thermostat and the staff is AMAZING! Don’t settle by putting your loved on in the Landing at Saco Bay. There are choices within a few miles and the difference is mind blowing……….for the same price!

My father has been at The Landing at Saco Bay for the last eight months after being in another memory care facility. I can say unreservedly that this is a special place. The care and attention he has received is amazing. Residents have access to a beautiful facility, well-prepared meals, and a full schedule of varied activities. The activities and cheerful atmosphere have resulted in positive behavioral changes for my father. It has been an enormous relief for my family to know he is safe, peaceful, and appropriately engaged.
