My mom and brother are now residing at Laurel Lodge. The entire staff from administration, med techs, maintenance, house keeping, food service, have just been wonderful to us. The Lodge provides activities and both my mom and brother participate in daily (exercise). The Lodge provides a beauty salon with the sweetest beautician, chiropractor, and podiatry services on a set schedule. The food has been well received and the care and concern for my family has been heartwarming. Everyone here is approachable and listens well to any concern or request and acts on it immediately. I truly have a Peace of Mind knowing they will be well taken care of in my absence. A huge shout out to Carly, April, Sam, Becky, Chelsea, Ken, Christina, Noel, James, Alexis, Heather, LaFredia, Misty, Sheba, Stormy, Kaitlyn, Gracen. I so appreciate all that you all do each day to help us!

Carly and April are so kind and compassionate. They helped me move my loved one in and took such great care of the entire process. They listened to our concerns and made the whole process so easy. This is an exceptional community and I am so glad that our family now gets to be a part of it.

I never intended for my mom to be put into an assisted living home. However my wife is looking after her 93 year old mother and there is no way Mom can live with us at this time. If you are in a similar situation as me and want your loved one to receive the best possible care I would highly recommend Laurel Lodge. Carly Applewhite (executive director) and April Beavers-Grant (wellness director) started work here in September 2025 after the former director Cristy Stewart resigned. Since then this facility has made a 180 degree turn. Anytime a problem occurs April or Carly takes care of it. They don't make excuses and they don't lie. They treat everyone like family and I am so thankful they are here. There is no way I can say enough about them. Without their leadership Laurel Lodge would not be a great place like it is today. Other than living with me I would not want my mom anywhere else.

I wish anyone reading this review could crawl inside my heart and feel how grateful I am to write it. My mother has been at LL for about a year now, and during that time we’ve been on a roller-coaster ride that I believe has finally become a smooth, pleasant drive. This review reflects our experience specifically with the Assisted Living side of the facility. I don’t have any insight into the Memory Care side. When my mother first arrived, Laurel Lodge was struggling under the previous administration. But with the new leadership team, everything has changed. Kathy has always been a bright spot—she thoughtfully plans crafts, games, and socials that genuinely engage both residents and their families, creating a warm, family-like atmosphere. April, the new Wellness Director, is exceptional. No matter the time of day, she is available, present, and always willing to answer questions or help solve problems. The newly added care staff bring true compassion and a work ethic that was not there previously, and because of them, LL is becoming a place I feel comfortable having my mother in. And Carly, the new Executive Director, clearly leads the charge. She has only been there a few months, but the transformation she and April have brought about is nothing short of remarkable. Of course, I wish my mother could still live at home. But LL has become a place where I feel at peace—and even more importantly, a place I trust to help care for my sweet mother. I sincerely hope The Oaks keeps this team in place. We all need the consistency of leadership that cares and takes action. We have that now, so my plea to The Oaks management is to continue supporting the changes happening at Laurel Lodge and to stand behind this team as they work to make the facility one The Oaks can be truly proud to have its name on. A final note to families considering a transition to any assisted living community: visit often. Think of the move not as handing off your responsibility of care, but as forming a partnership with a team who can work alongside you to give your loved one a safe and comforting environment. My memory-impaired mother often says, “This is not home, but it’s OK. I know I’m never by myself, and they are good to me.” Hearing those words—especially from someone who can’t recall what she had for her last meal—brings me deep comfort.

Becky Bowman and the leadership at Laurel Lodge are the most professional and compassionate team I have ever met. Whenever there is a problem, they solve it. Laurel Lodge and it's organization is an invaluable stakeholder in our beautiful community. They have made an incredibly difficult, quite insurmountable situation one of ease and comfort. I will forever be in gratitude to them for what they have done for my veteran neighbor. Thank you so much for your team, your love and passion for your craft. God truly blessed us.
