Toured this facility recently and Nathaly was so sweet and welcoming. When she gave us a tour of your lovely facility, she answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns. I felt very welcomed. Definitely could see my mother staying here!

My family had a truly horrible experience at August Healthcare Leewood, resulting in my relative going to the ER and being admitted to the hospital for days a very serious infection. While some of the CNAs, nurses, PT, & OT were kind and good at their jobs, others failed miserably. The unit manager's suggestion for my relative's pneumonia was not antibiotics, but telling her to "just calm down." The night staff refused to change her, help her with an oximeter, saying "It's not my job." At one point, a week out of surgery, there was no order for any pain reliever, and so the staff refused to give my relative even Tylenol, although somehow they could keep offering opioids, which her medical records clearly say she's allergic to. Even when the Tylenol was prescribed, it took as many as 4 to 5 hours for her to get some on a regular basis. It took almost two weeks for the facility to get her medicines correct. My relative spent days coughing, ignored by the nurses and doctors. Finally, a PT doctor ordered an x-ray, and it was clear she had an infection. The treatment was insufficient. When it was obvious that she wasn't improving, it took an official complaint to finally get a better prescription. However, that wasn't delivered for days, even though we offered to pick it up. Then, when that ran out, there was no evaluation or assessment to see if it had worked. It hadn't. Finally, more because they were tired of being asked to care for my mother than because they saw it was needed, did the staff call the hospital. If my relative hadn't known what medicine she needed, and we hadn't asked and asked and asked for care, I don't think she would have made it out alive.

This is a wonderful facility where the nursing team is comfortable proving excellent, even quite involved long-term care to your loved ones. My lovely mom has quite significant health needs, even as she remains sweet, bright of mind and aware of her environment. This is a blessing but also a challenge when her care at other facilities has been subpar and she was all too aware of it. At August the team is well-trained, comfortable and even kind when providing significant elderly care. We went through a VA Medicaid application process to meet the cost of long-term care. This is a difficult, prolonged process with the state, but Anton and the medical team at August were helpful, quickly responsive and helped us get approved. Now my mom has a long-term residence to call home. Thank you to everyone who puts their hearts into the care of our family members at August at Leewood. Truly nurses like Phetsamone, David who always has a warm welcome, and many others are angels on earth!

Iām not really fund of seeing the elderly without their independence or questionable well care. However, was happily surprised and pleased with the support staff/well care being provided at Leewood. My friend seemed to be pleased with the attention and genuine hospitality being extended to him. Finally the cleanliness was evident. I got there at the time of staff change. The transitioning appears to be going well. š«¶š¾šš¾

Everyone on staff was very welcoming and kind. All of the residents I got to see appeared to be well looked after. My Gramma is very happy there with many friends. They keep it very warm inside. It was good to see older residents comfortable with the temperature. You may want to wear light clothes for your own comfort.
