Aurora Counseling has been one of the most accommodating and understanding counseling clinics I have worked with in Fairbanks. They are friendly, compassionate and meet me where I am in my mental health journey. The office staff are caring, answer all my billing questions and have been gracious when it comes to scheduling. My counselor is a great listener, kind, helps me work through really tough speed bumps and is always willing to take the process at my pace. I love that my counselor gives me new strategies whenever I feel as though the ones I have been using do not work. I very much appreciate everyone here and am thankful I found them.

As an added bonus they have massage chairs in the rooms which makes the appointment even better. At our first (and only) appointment I was impressed with the professionalism of the office and of the intern we were scheduled with, Julie. My 8yo child needed to be seen for copycat mental health struggles, and this was made very clear from the beginning. During the appointment, Julie explained why she was qualified to help my child, how much she's worked with children and her experiences that make her trustworthy and reliable. We made a follow up appointment for this week. I got a call this morning, barely 24 hours before our appointment, that we are "outside the scope" of what Julie can do, and that was the only explanation I was given. I'm very frustrated and confused, and my trust in the providers of this clinic is gone. If we were outside her scope, then why did she tell us she was so qualified to work with children and good at what she does? Why did she tell us that we can set recurring appointments? Very disappointed in the mishandling of my child's needs, and would not recommend this clinic.
