LITTLE RIVER MANOR INC

Before placing my loved one at Little River Manor, I wish that I had considered a few important things. Why are walkers taken away from the residents day and night when they are dependent on them for safe mobility? Why are so many arbitrary rules imposed on the residents? Why are the residents afraid to break a rule or lodge a complaint? Why are accommodations suggested by licensed physical therapists for resident’s safety refused (ex: moving a toilet chair next to the bed for use at night)? Why doesn’t the staff notify family when a fall has occurred? Why are there no fire drills? What happens when the elevator breaks and the resident is downstairs? Why is the staff turnover so high? Why are there no handrails on the porch? Why are some resident’s bathrooms not able to accommodate a walker? Things that were unforeseen problems included, a bat infestation in the attic, a MRSA outbreak, skyrocketing pharmacy costs to accommodate packaging for dispensing medications because there is no nurse on staff, and finally , being assured that residents living in the house would have first choice when another room became available, and then finding out that this was false. Would a more professional facility be a safer bet?
