A member of this care showed up to our residence yesterday. Said he was there to provide an assessment for my mother, who's suffering from Dementia. At the time, only my mother and brother were present. So my brother calls me to speak to the nurse. After asking him to proceed with the test, he began to look for reasons not to do the physical assessment. Stating that no one was on location that spoke English and could sign the paperwork. We virtually begged him to stay and do the physical assessment as my mother desperately needs the home care. He nevertheless continued to look for reasons not to follow thru with the physical assessment. I got his name and told him I would make sure to speak to someone from his company. The following day, we found out from our referring doctor that the nurse had gone back to Nightingale Homecare and reported that we refused the physical assessment (Not him refusing to stay) and Nightingale Homecare had closed our case. Our referring doctor asked us if we wish to contact Nightingale Homecare to ask to re-open the case. Our answer was that we wanted to have absolutely no homecare provided by this company, as we felt the nurse's deceitful actions of communicating the complete opposite of the truth, demonstrated Nightingale Homecare wasn't the appropriate company to provide homecare for my mother. It is unfortunately, the amount of stress health care providers are under. And the lengths they will go to in order to avoid providing the services intended to those who need it the most if it isn't the simplest, ideal situation for them. Rather than to make the slightest effort to help the ill. They think about what's easier for them, not their patients. Our experience was very poor with the nurse in hand. Not sure I can blame the entire company for it, but as a representative of Nightingale Homecare, it certainly makes them look very bad.
