This place is not just beautiful and clean but the staff makes you feel like home. The new Ed is so sweet and always with a smile. She went over and beyond to answer all the questions we had and we look forward to working with her. They had the red carpet going on when we visit for the new resident moving in which I thought was such a sweet gesture!

When my father-in-law was looking for an assisted living facility, it was important for it to feel welcoming and safe. Magnolia Bridge became that place for him and the family members are reminded of that every time they visit. The caring and personable staff have continued to make his time there enjoyable and the family has peace of mind knowing that someone is always concerned for his well being. We could not be more pleased with Magnolia Bridge.

My mother is 90 years old and relocated abruptly due to the hurricane in NC. It was traumatic and scary for her, leaving the only home she has ever known in Black Mountain NC. I have been her sole caregiver for about 5 years, having kept her from nursing homes during the pandemic. If became clear that my mom needed more specialized memory care and even Hospice after our arrival to SC. I am newly married since this November and my husband is an amputee of about 8 mths… he is still in recovery. I needed mom to be close in proximity and I wanted her to feel safe and enjoy her surroundings as much as possible. Magnolia is a huge, attractive facility that seems like a good time for all. Sadly, the Memory Care Unit is anything but that. It is short staffed, run mainly by CNA’s and Med techs and if you should need to speak to the Director of Nurses, good luck. I go to check on mom every day. I have NEVER seen anyone attempt to offer her activities or “ memory care” type assistance. Residents wander aimlessly in and out of rooms, bored and confused. I was told by the DIrector of Nurses when she showed me mom’s potential room, “ don’t bring anything you want to keep because it will most likely get gone”…. And after a few weeks of living there, she has in fact had random residence come into her room and try to take her things. We have installed a camera for now, and my mom actually knows what to do because she too was a Director of Nurses and State Inspector for many years. The only highlight is feeding time. The food is brought down from an actual dining room and tossed onto tables in front of the resident. Seldom is there music or any semblance of “ dining”. Again, residents often stumble around confused, even going behind the counter and touching dirty dishes, piling plates onto the dessert tray because they don’t know what else to do. Two of the residents must be fed, so if a resident should need help, they don’t get it unless family is there to assist. I question the lack of integrity and wonder if each resident has an actual plan for memory care? I have never seen one or even had a “ welcome in” conversation with anyone at Magnolia. While the staff is minimal, they seem kind and overworked. I feel almost as sorry for them as I do the residents of memory care. These are people who served in the military, they were nurses and teachers and moms and dads. It is extremely expensive and hugely disappointing. When your memory care unit is lacking enough professional help, there is a problem Magnolia! Hire people who are right for the position instead of filling beds putting your residents at risk of falling or feeling confused more than they already are. If you are under staffed, you are most likely under paying your help.

I've been living here since November. (It's now mid Feb.) Magnolia Bridge is far from an upscale facility. It's pretty on the outside and in the corridors, but if you are in assisted living, it doesn't honor its obligations. There is a serious attitude problem here. I can't speak for either memory care or independent living.
