I had the opportunity to tour Marquis Place of Elkhorn in January 2026 while searching for assisted living and memory care options for my parents. Although my family ultimately required a different arrangement, I was genuinely impressed by the facility and its staff. From the moment I arrived, Tracy was incredibly helpful. She took the time to understand my family's needs and provided valuable insights to help us determine the best fit for our situation. It was evident that she, along with the rest of the team at Marquis Place, truly cares about their residents and their families. The facility itself is well-maintained, clean, and exudes a warm, home-like atmosphere. During my visits (I visited several times), I noticed that the residents appeared happy and engaged in various activities, which speaks volumes about the quality of care and community they provide. If our circumstances change in the future, I will certainly consider Marquis Place as a potential home for my loved ones. I highly recommend this facility to anyone seeking a compassionate and supportive environment for their family members.

My mom started out in assisted living and has now been in memory care for a year. I'm very happy with how things are going now. Because of some changes in staff, my mom is more involved and she seems much happier. Mary back in memory care has been a Godsend and the activities director Michelle is great and plans a lot of activities and is lovely with the residents. I don't know every ones name but things are so much better.

Initial post: They poorly assessed my father’s functional status and accepted him, then upon his admission called 911 to have him leave secondary to an inability to care for him. He was there a total of 20 minutes and they charged him over 3k. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: Following communication with management, the bill was pro-rated and the community fee waved to reflect more accurate billing. Despite their initial mistakes and inadequate management, they corrected course.

My Mother and I toured this facility yesterday. I really enjoyed meeting LaShawn (sorry if misspelled). I appreciated the quaintness and the large square layout where residents could walk around as well as the few residents we briefly met. The lady with the walking stick was delightful as well as the lady who let us into her apartment! We are still checking out places but I must give a shout out and five stars to LaShawn who represented experience, professionalism, humor, knowledge and joy! She answered all of our questions. The Marquis Place of Elkhorn is very fortunate to have her as a Care employee. Thank you!

My grandmother-in-law was in Marquis Place for roughly one month in October 2024. I'm writing this to educate people that are trying to find their loved one the proper place for their condition. First, I don't think she was properly evaluated. That was mistake number one. She was a 2-3 person assist (because of some recent falls at a skilled nursing facility) when she moved into the memory care unit. No one told us that there were only 2 caregivers on the nightshift for roughly 20+ people. She has dementia and couldn't remember to press the button at night when she needed help so she'd try and get up to go potty and would fall. This led to the caregivers not putting her to bed at night and forcing her to sleep in her wheelchair in the living space which led to her being tired, sore, and combative, which led to her missing meals and medicine. This should be ILLEGAL and it probably is. One of the times they left her in her wheelchair all night was on her birthday! All of these combined things led to some of the nurses being irritable and upset with her and us. If your staff has to leave residents in their wheelchairs overnight isnt that a sign you need to do something different like hire more night staff or get a motion detector for the fall risks?? Their Ai camera system only records the fall as its happening. That means they have this for their defense, instead of being proactive and preventing falls with a motion detector or a bed alarm. I witnessed more often than not staff sitting and scrolling on their phones instead of interacting with residents. I witnessed a resident telling the nurse he had to go to the bathroom and she told him to wait until after lunch! There was no personal cares being done while we were there in the PM or AM - teeth brushing, hair combing, denture care, deoderant, barely remembered to put on her glasses. They weren't offering ANYONE water between meals and when I asked them about this in a meeting Erika the head nurse said that they needed to implement the water cart again. HUH?? THAT MEANS YOU STOPPED?? These are HUMAN BEINGS and you stopped offering them water? Is it so you dont have to offer them bathroom breaks as often = less staff = more money in the owners pocket?? My grandma would chug water when we came to visit her. We had to hire a private caregiver from 11pm- 10am while we sought out a safer facility. Our caregiver told us (and other family members that watched her) that she'd press the button for assistance and no one would come. If they did come it was 15+ minutes, and by then my grandma had soiled herself. I witnessed this myself as well. Erika the RN had to call and ask why no one was answering the call light - that day there was a staff member sitting on her phone at a table not paying attention. In the couple meetings we had with the head nurses we were treated like these things were our fault because she wasn't in the right care facility. Even after being told she wasn't right for the memory care unit they charged us for November. Sure, maybe she wasn't right for your facility but that doesn't change the fact that your staff is on their phone all the time, are not taking people to the bathroom when they ask, not answering call lights, letting residents starve because they slept through their meal, leaving other residents on the toilet when they are a fall risk (happened to a different resident), getting mad at family members when they ask for help, getting defensive when bad things are brought to their attention, not offering water between meals, LEAVING PEOPLE IN WHEELCHAIRS OVERNIGHT AND NOT PUTTING THEM TO BED, and not being attentive - another resident broke out my grandmas window, broke her picture, and was picked up by strangers. I'm gonna tell you how my grandma is doing now. We got her into a facility on 192nd north of dodge. She's walking great with the assistance of her walker, she is social with the other residents, she's HAPPY and doing activities, and she's put on weight because the food isn't microwaved.
