MIDTOWN MANOR

I recently visited midtown manor for my mother and although it must be said: the building is old and somewhat small, I did get a good vibe overall. The staff and the director Mr. Dowdell were simply amazing and very involved with their residents. I've visited countless facilities but I've never run across a more caring and involved director. He's totally hands on with his residents and they seem to love him right back. They've made countless improvements and continue to upgrade rooms etc. Yes, those cosmetic things are important but the staff is way more important since they're the ones caring for our loved ones.

My brother was here for a while. They evicted him suddenly. Not only did we learn they were not licensed at the time for clients with mental illness, the building was plagued with bed bugs. Terrible place. Maybe under new management, they'll do better.

My loved one was neglected to the point she needed to go to the ER. The nurse documented that my loved one came in with bed bugs and a nasty infection. I don't recommend this place to anyone unless you hate your loved one

Terrible!!! Be aware. Dirty!!! Bathroom had blood on floor not cleaned in weeks. Nasty room! If i could would negitive rate this place. They dont care for people here..be aware. Dirty dirty...we cleaned the room ourselves... Then after 6 weeks of our family member here the owner decides he cant stay because of insurance. But he makes the money to pay his way??? Why wait 6 weeks uprooting him like this. He has dementia and dont know where he is sometimes...then to boot we get him settled and found the clothes they gave us in black bags NONE OF THEM ARE HIS!! Norcany of the cleaners we had there were in any of the bags. Disgraceful! Very very disappointed! Owner does not care!!

For the last 3 years Midtown Manor has been struggling with bedbug infestation to the point that now the whole building is infested. Not a single bedroom is without bedbugs. Some residents are covered with bedbug bites all over their bodies. Residents have shown the actual bedbugs and bites on their bodies to the staff. Midtown Manor is not only ignoring the evidence, but also denying help to these vulnerable residents. Some rooms have been treated with spray, but the infestation has not abated. At this time, January, 2016, there are rumors of inspectors coming to evaluate the problem and also rumors or a shut down. It is unknown what will happen next. If you are considering placing a loved one in the facility, visit and talk, not only to the staff, but to the residents themselves and draw your own conclusion. The purpose of this post is to help the current and future residents.
