I am regrettably forced to share this story. I am the minister of two local congregations (1st and 2nd Chapel of God), specializing in assisting disabled, homeless and impoverished believers from all walks of life. One of my congregations meets at the Silver Creek Senior Center at which I volunteer, on average, five days a week, four hours a day. A family friend recently moved into Mountain Care due to her worsening condition and need for assistance. She is a woman of faith, coming from a rich background of belief, including Episcopalian. Being raised and educated in the Anglican church and familiar with the practices of Episcopalians, and having been an ordained and recorded minister for some time with an eclectic approach to sacraments, I agreed to perform the extreme unction, more commonly called last rites. This practice is done for those who are concerned about their health and wish to reaffirm their faith in Christ and be relieved of the burden of sin during a time of difficulty. I was denied access to the resident, despite her wishes, and told that although the staff were unfamiliar with her faith, that the act would only worsen her condition. I was shocked and attempted to explain, to no avail. As I left, a police car pulled up, the officer watching me as he did so. I can only assume, based on the interaction and that the woman's legal representative and power of attorney was trespassed for passing along the resident's desired medical treatment for an infection, that I too have now been trespassed. Everyone who has attempted to make contact with this resident has been treated with suspicion, contempt and callousness. When the resident's power of attorney called today, she was not allowed to speak with the resident, despite her being audible in the background. Lawyers, officials and church elders have been contacted. May God guide the staff to doing the right thing.

The heart of Tom & Donna, owners, are more like family than business operators. They love their residents as if they are part of their own family. Neat people!!!!

Care for the elders in this home is exceptional. My mom loves this facility because all of the caregivers and the owners take so much time to make sure they are happy and safe. They have different activities everyday and it is always so enjoyable for my mom. Oh, and the food is home cooked and so delicious. Thank you Freeland Manor😊
