Navion of New Bern

The staff at Navion of New Bern are wonderful. They take great care of the residents. The facility is clean, doesn't smell bad, and improvements are constantly being made. I would have given 5 stars but there are a few processes that need to be improved to assure that tasks are done consistently and the best they can be done. The people in key leadership positions at this facility are relatively new and they are working to improve all aspects of care.

My 99-year-old father has lived at this facility for about two years. The current Navion owners took over management in January, 2025. Care was good before, but is excellent with Navion. All caregivers are loving, positive and competent. Nursing care is wonderful, which is a major concern since we need catheter care, which requires close monitoring. Costs are as reasonable as I could hope to find in eastern NC and the quality of life, I.e., dining, social/recreational is very good. My father is safe and well-cared for at Navion. We intentionally want others who may be considering living at Navion to know that we consider it to be a high-quality assisted living residential facility. My father says it is the best of the four in which he has lived, and he particularly likes the dining. We are extremely pleased for him to be at Navion. Even though I live about an hour away, I have easy access to the directors of the facility and of medical care. My only critical comment is that high-definition TV is not available with their antiquated satellite service, and network channels are limited to about 20-25 stations. Since older folks tend to have reduced vision (my Dad has macular degeneration) watch a good bit of TV it would seem that providing providing high-definition viewing and a wide range of channels would be a high priority quality-of-life issue. However, this is a corporate level short-coming, and it doesn’t reflect at all on the quality of care provided by the local staff, of whom we consider each and every individual to be just the best of the best. I did a tour of Navion and met the staff. The place felt like home. You get the feeling that the staff really cares about the residents. The residents seemed very happy and cared for. They have a lovely garden area where the residents can sit and socialize. It was a very nice tour I would highly recommend.

We moved our loved one to Navion of New Bern October 2024 and know we made the right decision. This was a difficult transition as she lived independently until an accident in late August. The care and support our Mom receives gives us peace of mind and comfort and we consider the staff to be an extension of our family. The facility provides many activities for residents and also many fun events for families as well. The staff communicate well and keep us informed, they work with us to find solutions when needed. We highly recommend Navion of New Bern.

I had a pleasure of touring this beautiful community yesterday for my Aunt and Uncle. I must say, the pictures they have online give the community no justice! I was pleased that they had upgraded their interior. I was even more pleased with the live music they had and seeing all the smiling faces from those who lived there. The staff greeted us as well with smiling faces. It made me feel like my Aunt and Uncle will be happy and safe!
