Would never recommend this place to send your family to. Absolutely disgraceful.

The manager was supposed go get back with me and never did about a payment. He took it to court and I received a court issued letter. Please be careful.

I moved my elderly parents into Northwood Assited living and it was the worst decision I ever made for them. Most of the staff were extremely nice, especially the front desk and so many of the nurses. The complex knew they were moving in at least 30 days prior. We visited twice and always with both of my parents so they knew both of them would be living there. The rent listed on the pamphlet was for 1 person, which it never stated. We were never told that it would be an extra $800 for the other person. We were told since most people that live there are on Medicaid and were not self pay like my parents, so they didn't list it nor did anyone inform us while we were visiting. The day they moved in, they asked my parents all the pertinent information that should have been asked before they move in. The physical didn't even include a blood pressure check. They said they would clean the apartment before the moved in and that never happened. We were also told there would be new carpet in the apartment, however, it was not replaced and was so dirty my socks turned dark brown. The floors were so dirty, when I mopped, the the water turned brown. There were gnats in the apartment which were so annoying, the light over the sink didn't work, the kitchen sink was completely clogged and the garbage disposal didn't work. The toilet was so nasty and had not been cleaned. The cable was included in the rent but was not turned on for a week after they moved in. The electrical outlets were not working correctly. They tried to repair and left wires completely exposed. The air conditioner in one bedroom, was pulled from the wall and you could see through to the outside. 2 burners on the stove never worked and the first time they used it, there was so much smoke, it set the smoke alarm off and no one came to check on them. Then they were told they would be taking the stove out in the future, even though that was promised to be in the apartment. The housekeeper only did a few things. She didn't mop the floors, dust, change the sheets, clean the toilet or the shower. She cleaned the counter tops and vacuumed. The meals were not balanced. Vegetables or milk are not served at most meals and they mostly served sandwiches. We were promised that maintenance would hang pictures, hang the TV, help move furniture, they never did. We were told, by a staff person that had only worked there for a few months, there would be a Registered Nurse 24/7 and there is not. They tried to switch their prescriptions to a mail in pharmacy, even though they were told they would keep the same pharmacy they had because there was no co pay. And when the nurse got their medical records, they ordered every medication they had ever been on in the past 25 years, even though they were not taking them. The manger brought in a lady to view my parents apartment because he wanted to show her how nice their apartment was but never made an appointment or asked them before showing up. A lady that worked there, just unlocked their door and came in looking for another resident without knocking first. There is only 3 washers and 3 dryers on the second floor, and my mom had to stay up there while she washed, and people would just leave their clothes and you were not allowed to remove them and the dryers never completely dried the clothes. The faucet in the bathroom had very low water pressure and the faucet in the kitchen sprayed water everywhere. My mom and I complained to the manager several times and in writing, (as soon as a few days after they moved in), and nothing was ever taken care of. Or if it was, it was done just to make it look better. We started looking for another assisted living facility within a month or so after they moved in but sadly, my mother passed away and we immediately moved my father out of their apartment and in with us in a different city. My parents lived there just under 2 months. And don't let the 5 star reviews fool you, many are from the staff and/or their family members. I wish I would never have moved my parents in to this awful place.
