Matthews Glen is a beautiful community, and my grandparents have mostly enjoyed living here for the most part. The biggest issue we hear about and personally experience is the food. Despite bringing in new chefs in recent years, the quality hasn’t improved, and our family avoids visiting for meals because it’s consistently disappointing. We’re lucky we live close enough to take our grandmother out to eat, but not everyone can. Future residents need to be aware of this and try to experience the bistro food or a Sunday meal (both awful) and not just a dinner at the Chop house (which is better) before moving in. Matthews Glen really needs to prioritize better quality food for their residents.

My mother lives in OBT Mathews Glen’s assisted living facility for about 5months. We were told that an employee had turned in another employee for elder abuse against our mom. There was an internal investigation and were told that it was more about a dispute between the two employees and that the accused employee did not harm our mom. The police were called and interviewed our mom with out having family there (our mom has Alzheimer’s) which is a big no, no. I have asked twice in writing for the final report and have not received any response. I also contacted to director of the facility and NO reply. Very disappointed in MG…

Over the past 10 years Ellen and I have had numerous very positive experiences here at ACTS Matthews Glen. However, the most recent is experiencing the Wellness Office and Tonya, Donna (nurse) and Laureal the Nurse Practitioner. We switched to Laureal as our primary care and the Wellness Office really went into high gear. I have never experienced the attention and care from any previous medical office as now afforded us through Matthews Glen and their Nurse Practitioner involvement with our health needs. “Well done good and faithful servants.” Rick and Ellen

As a deliver driver, the place needs to do better. Today, while trying to deliver a package, I had a rude encounter with one of your security workers. Not only did I have to drive on the other side of the location that was sent but when I arrived security was rude about the delivery hours. As, I tried to explain to security there are no entered delivery hours therefore packages while continue to be delivered at all hours. And either way, we as delivery drivers can only do what is expected of us. So the attitude and the hospitality was not needed. And the email address that was listed to form a complaint was rejected. Overall do better!!

My mom lived several years at Matthews Glen before passing away this spring. Although ACTS gave her many benefits in life, it has been nothing but frustrating for us after her death. I would have assumed that a resident's death is an unfortunate reality that they face frequently, but they apparently do not put much thought into making anything easier for the family. As just one example, her account has continued to be charged each month. When it happens, we get in contact and they apologize, refund the account. But it continues to happen over and over again. This month, they finally told us we would need to go into the portal and take care of this issue ourselves. So they sent a bunch of instructions but these instructions were meant for residents, not family members. Just another example of ineptness on their part. We leave this review because unless this issue comes to light, they will never seek to change it. We do this in hopes that the family members that follow us will not have to deal with such asinine issues while they are grieving a loved one.
