OAKMONT OF TORRANCE

From the moment I walked into Oakmont of Torrance, I felt it, this is a place where people truly care. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of life. It didn’t feel like a facility; it felt like a home. As I toured the community, it was clear that every detail is intentional, from the beautifully maintained spaces to the way team members interact so naturally and kindly with residents. The smiles were genuine, the conversations were unhurried, and there was a sense of dignity and respect in every interaction. What stood out most was the team and leadership. You can feel their passion and commitment the moment you speak with them. There is a deep sense of pride in the work they do, and it shows in how supported the residents feel and how connected the staff are to one another. Oakmont of Torrance is more than a place to live, it’s a community where residents are known, valued, and cared for, and where families can feel peace knowing their loved ones are in capable, compassionate hands. Touring this community left me truly moved and confident that this is somewhere special.

I have had 2 parents live at Oakmont, in the Assisted Living and the Memory care sections. The staff & leadership are outstanding and extremely compassionate. My husband and I visit multiple times a week & regularly talk & interact with the staff. The facility is beautiful, the maintenance staff is very responsive & it is extremely clean. They have musicians come in every week to entertain, they do great themed parties once a quarter or so & they always decorate for holidays with fresh flowers. My parents used to go on the bi-weekly field trips to museums, botanical gardens & music events which they really loved. The dining room is pretty, but the service can be slow - the food is generally good. They have a library, bar & cafe and a movie room that is fantastic. I looked at several places in the area, but Oakmont was a clear winner, especially being so close to doctors offices & Torrance Memorial Hospital. I highly recommend it. As is true with all places, senior living is as good as what you, as an adult child/caregiver, are willing to put into it. You need to be an ACTIVE participant in your loved one’s care to help a facility be 5 star. If you are NOT regularly speaking with the Director & staff & visiting your loved one, things will likely go wrong, so always stay engaged.

Oakmont has been a wonderful residence for my mother. I am continually impressed with the kind and caring staff, and the administration that responds to all of my requests and concerns. Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy is available on-site, and they will also provide wheelchair transportation for local doctor visits. My mom is receiving the best personal care, medical care, and nutrition of her elderly life. Most importantly, I have the peace of mind that comes from knowing she is safe and well-cared for. I explored a number of options and am very happy that a great place like Oakmont was available.

My mom has been in Oakmont the past couple years and she loves it. They have activities to keep her busy and the care that Oakmont provides for their patients is top notch. They even have their own shuttle that takes them on “field trips” so they can enjoy the beautiful areas and beaches around Oakmont. When my mom was recently in the hospital, the Oakmont medical director, Angelie, came to the hospital to visit and checkup on her. She also answered a ton of questions that I had about my mom which was very comforting. Prior to being discharged, Angelie coordinated with the hospital so Oakmont knew all of my mom’s new medication and physical therapy requirements. This made my life so much easier! Thank you so much Angelie!! You are truly a godsend!! Oakmont and the people that work there treat all the residents as their own family! ❤️

What impressed me most was her complete impartiality—she kept both my friend and me updated throughout the process, making it clear that her priority was never about favoring a particular vendor but about securing the highest quality care for the resident. In the end, I was fortunate to be chosen by the family due to our competitive rates, but Angel’s professionalism and commitment to fairness played a crucial role in the decision-making process. Beyond their dedication to residents, the leadership at Oakmont fosters an incredible culture of support for their staff. The entire caregiver team operates under a leadership that values prompt communication, attentiveness, and a deep commitment to excellence. Their passion for their work is truly inspiring, making a real difference in the lives of both residents and their families.
