Assisted living facilities usually consist of residents that are less care intensive so it's normal for the client:caregiver ratio to be higher, which I get. However, this unfortunately makes some management (like the one here) think it's okay to severely understaff their facility because hypothetically you can get everything done in time if you run fast enough. This poses a hectic, unpleasant and unsafe dynamic for your workers as well as the residents. It's considered normal to have ONE caregiver for all 3 cottages on AL for dayshift, with the 'second caregiver' being the housekeeper who legally CANNOT do care. That's over 30 residents for one person to check up on, chart, serve dining to 3 different buildings etc. It's normal to have 3-5 showers per day. The MC side has one caregiver for each of the 2 cottages, too many clients and an insane amount of charting. Med techs are supposed to help but they don't. It's WAY too much work for one person. I don't understand how state hasn't shut this place down yet. It's gone downhill ever since care partners took over

My mom has only been at The Cottages for a short time, and while she’s been there, she’s had a couple of falls—no fault of anyone’s, just part of her dementia. Living out of state, it’s been challenging to navigate all the logistics and ensure my mom is safe and well cared for in her environment. I want to give a special thank you to Mari, the Executive Director, for her care and support as we worked through all the details. I also want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Tracy (DNS), who has been incredibly helpful and available to guide me through the hospital and rehab requirements to get mom back to the Cottages after surgery and rehab. You can truly tell they care about people, and that makes such a difference for my mom and our family.

Very disappointed on everything about it.didnt get help for 30 minutes. Bathroom is disgusting. The road to get into it are horrible. And when I went inside it is a disaster. Overall worst retirement homes.

In the 5 months my cousin has been in the facility, I am starting to see improvement. The food is getting better, rooms are being cleaned weekly, and there is a shower and clothes washing schedule. The facility is lovely with good walking paths for residents. I spoke with another resident and she too has noted the improvement. There has been a transition period with new owners.
