The lack of effective management at this facility is astonishing. From the director to the two nurses, the staff clearly needs guidance. I am baffled as to how the State permits this place to continue operating. Consider the misleading reviews listed here. Heather, the current director, gave a 5-star review. Jermain, the maintenance man, also awarded 5 stars. Paul, the facility salesman, was so impressed he gave 5 stars as well. Jaclyn, who works for the corporation, followed the same pattern with a 5-star review. This trend is evident and troubling. In my opinion, none of them seem to understand how to perform their duties with integrity.

We relocated my mom from Ohio Assisted Living to here for Memory Care and to be closer to her daughter. She just moved in on Monday November 7, 2025. Horrible - aides are telling us to get a private aide because there is not enough staff to take care of my mom. She has Alzheimer’s and they are putting her in her room and closing the door. Her fear is to be alone. She can’t find her way out. She walk with a walker but they move it away from her. I don’t know for sure but I think this a form of restraints and you need a physician’s order for that! Does anyone know of a better place? Administration is promising more than what staff can deliver. I’m in SHOCK. I’m only giving one star so I can write a review. Also are nanny cams allowed in resident room if everyone knows it is there and if not WHY NOT?

I cannot say enough positive things about The Palmettos of Bluffton. When it was time for my mother to transition to assisted living, our family was understandably worried. From our very first tour, the staff put us at ease with their genuine warmth and professionalism. The caregivers and nurses are truly angels. They treat my mother with such dignity and compassion, and they have gone above and beyond to make her feel at home. The communication has been excellent; they always keep me informed about her health and well-being. The facility itself is always immaculate and bright, and the variety of activities keeps Mom engaged and active. She particularly enjoys exercise and the beautiful courtyards. We have been so impressed with the quality of the meals and the welcoming dining experience. It is a tremendous relief to know she is in such a wonderful, supportive, and joyful environment. Our only regret is that we didn't make the move sooner!

My father has had an apartment at Palmettos since November of 2021. He counts the staff among his friends. He is a difficult man to get along with on a good day. He has exacting standards and tastes and is, therefore, difficult to please. Palmetto staff have managed to win him over, time and time again. I am deeply grateful for the loving care he has received.

Absolutely do NOT bring your loved ones here. Management is oblivious, disrespectful, and only puts on a show of caring. When real help is needed, no one comes, even after paging the pendant. I get the short staff issue is everywhere. But I’ve seen better. Serious concerns get raised over and over, but nothing ever changes. Med errors occur because management is constantly blaming someone else besides themselves. It is overpriced for such small attentiveness that is brought. The staff turnover is alarming. People are being fired left and right, or quitting because the environment is so toxic. Nobody even knows who’s behind all the firings, but the constant revolving door of staff means there’s no stability and residents are the ones who suffer. This is not a safe place for anyone’s family. Consider it a red flag and look elsewhere.
