Long time patient. Long time generic number to these doctors. Treatment based on income. Get ready to share the same thing to your doc every visit. They only look at the dumb questionnaires you fill out and prescribe per their generic guidelines. Mental health services are a joke.

I was an inpatient here in 1987 and 1988, spending 5 months straight in 1988, (glad they don't do that anymore)! Reading about the falling and getting accused of attention seeking, it doesn't sound like much has changed. I belched super loud once and was sent to my room for punishment lol! I'm still proud of that belch and would love to come for ten minutes and belch at them again!! Seriously though, overall it was a good experience. I made friends and had a lot of fun. The nurses and techs were mostly helpful and nurturing to my 16 year old self.

I have been in the child and adolescent unit 3 times now. The two most recent times nurses have tried to get a blood sample against my will MANY times, and when I asked why they needed it, they avoided the question. The reason why I refused was due to the fact I am very sensitive to most pain and I cannot handle needles. A nurse even said she'd forcibly restrain me if I didn't consent to having my blood drawn. The only reason Im giving this 2 stars is because of the good memories I have made with other patients and a tech by the name of Rigo.

i’m a long time outpatient and Inpatient user of pine rest, outpatient has been great, my therapist Lori Mcdiarmid has been the absolute best therapist i’ve ever had, and I have a pretty complex case unfortunately. the psychiatrists especially the new ones fresh out of school are amazing and genuinely caring! Inpatient is a completely different story. I’m a Type 1 Diabetic and they would not listen to my opinions or knowledge, only the physicians. I understand doctors need to make the changes but it took them nearly a WEEK to lower my insulin, while I was waking up at 3AM every night with 40-60 blood glucose on the verge of passing out/having a seizure. They wouldn’t provide me with insulin if I ate outside of meal times, I panicked and said they could possibly kill me or make me very very sick if they don’t give me insulin, they wrote out on my notes that I was being aggressive and disruptive. When I was first diagnosed I was nearly in a coma. nearly dead. god forbid someone has PTSD in the mental hospital. My foot gave out and I fell on the ground HARD and a nurse accused me of falling for attention and trying to hurt myself. that was only my most recent experience. Recently i’ve been going through a crisis where I need intense support that even my wonderful outpatient team isn’t as experienced/well equipped to handle, Im so desperate that I called to try and ask if there would be any units and rooms open this next week, only to be met with “Yea…” and hung up on me. When I was still in the child and adolescent unit, they did not do anything to protect the “troubled” kids. A homeless transgender teenager who we all loved by everyone in hall B (adolescents) was getting sexually assaulted constantly. they didn’t move her, they didn’t give her different room on a different unit. They left her there in hall C and they KNEW what was happening. I’m so desperate and vulnerable and I know this place will abuse me and yet I still feel the need to go in for my health and safety and quality of life. It’s wonderful to know if i’m in a crisis and need intensive support and treatment, that i’ll get more PTSD and distrust for the mental health system. don’t work in psychiatry if you won’t treat us like humans. we didn’t chose this, stop treating us like we did. I will be updating this review once I get out in a few weeks. I’m preparing for the worst.

Good care overall, the medical doctors they have are really good. They have a unique mother and baby's program. I wish some of the social workers really knew what they are doing and what they actually signed up for, as the social workers either make it a good experience or make it worse. Like Meghan in the mother and baby's program made is a horrible social worker as per a close relative of mine and I felt the same when I talked to her. The case managers are generally ok, but they are very lazy and they will make you do some of the work that they are supposed to do like find outpatient care. So keep few things in mind about the staff. But I would definitely recommend this place in case anyone needs help.
