my dad was worried about losing his privacy in assisted living, but pineview cottage actually nails it. you get your own space but you're still around people, which sounds simple but it's actually really hard to pull off and they've figured it out.

the way staff treats residents as individuals with histories and personalities rather than patients is refreshing. my mom's caregivers know about her career, her family, and what brings her joy.

Scam artists. Despite it’s beauty, This facility is poorly managed and intent on scamming people in delicate and vulnerable situations. I came to the facility to inquire about moving my father there. His medical condition is not that of a typical resident of these types facilities, and I made that very clear during my interview process. I was assured by the director that they could accommodate him, despite not having any medical review. I told them that I was new to the process, and had never moved him from his current living situation. Nonetheless, I was pressured to sign paperwork and put down a $1500 room deposit. Over two weeks later, after consultation with his current facility, Pineview determined that they were not able to accept my father given his unique medical condition. I asked for a return of my room deposit, considering the circumstances, and was told it’s non-refundable. It seems reasonable to me that if I made the call not to move him, I would not be refunded, but this was not my call, it was theirs. I was given false pretenses of care, lied to, and ignored when asking for a discussion on getting a refund.

my sister works in healthcare and was pretty skeptical about for-profit senior places, but after visiting pineview a bunch of times she actually admitted the care here is real and legit.

i'm amazed at how the community creates connection. my husband made friends quickly, and i've noticed staff actively facilitates time for residents to spend together around shared interests.
