PRAIRIE POINTE ASSISTED LIVING AND MEMORY CARE

I really had high hopes for this facility for my 86-year-old aunt. However, they did not provide her with the care that she signed up for (and was paying a high price for). For example, when she would push her call- button, it would often take over 30 minutes for someone to arrive to help her. One morning, her call button didn't work (and nobody came to check on her) so in desperation she called me. I attempted to call every number I had for the facility, but no one answered, so I drove to her. Throughout her time there, we had to repeatedly ask staff to keep her water cup filled (they would often take it to fill up but forget to bring it back), and the meals were poor quality and cold. The staff occasionally failed to deliver a meal to her room, so she would have to press her call button to ask for food (again long waits and one time they were out of food). My aunt's stress levels increased, and her joy decreased while she lived at Prairie Pointe. Thankfully, we found a different assisted living home for her to move into quickly. Unfortunately, although Prairie Pointe did not provide highly-trained, qualified staff to meet the needs set out in her individualized care plan (as stated on their website), they still required her to give a 30-day notice and pay for the full 30 days even though she moved out early due to Praire Pointe not providing adequate care. Please do not make the same mistake we made - there are better options out there! My aunt absolutely loves her new assisted living home. She is enjoying hot, tasty food and excellent care from a staff that cares deeply for her.

SHORT STAFFED-Do not believe when they give you staffing ratios. They are lying. The House manager lied to my face about ratios when I was getting a tour. My family member waited, often, for 40+ minutes to get call light answered. The staff are wonderful but are so over worked. The facility is nice. Only once per day PT and OT. Would be nice to have more often and have a set schedule for these services so that Nursing staff have ability to have patient fed and ready.

My dad is extremely happy with his stay! Excellent care, convenient therapy and good food. Definitely recommend.

Never ever again
