Really nice place, welcoming and friendly

My mom lived at Red Oak for about 4 months right after a severe stroke that landed her in the hospital for a month. Amy, Jarad, Kym, and the staff members and residents were so welcoming to her even though she was just getting back on her feet (literally) and working on speech issues. Jarad and Kym especially made the move in and communication very easy, especially with the endless administrative tasks that need to happen when someone moves to this stage in life. The food at Red Oak is pretty decent and she got a room with a view of Mt. Si! I was really worried about my mom's first experience with assisted living, especially since we are both new to the area and I am her only family member taking care of her. Red Oak eased my anxiety and was essential in smoothing over the transition right out of the hospital when I still wasn't sure whether she would be able to cope with semi-independent living. We ended up moving her to be closer to Seattle because it would be easier for me, but my mom was reluctant to leave. The activities at Red Oak are a little sparse, and there were a few miscommunications, but Amy and her team were very responsive and quick to make things right. I really appreciate everyone here who showed so much kindness to my mom.
