I would not recommend this assisted living facility to anyone looking for safe, attentive care for their loved one. From the beginning, there was a lack of professionalism and poor communication. We were assured that our family member’s needs could be managed, yet within days it became clear that the staff was unprepared and unable to properly handle even routine behavioral and medical concerns. Instead of working collaboratively to adjust care or keep us informed, decisions were made abruptly and without adequate explanation. We often had to initiate communication ourselves to find out what was happening. That is unacceptable when you are trusting people with the care of someone vulnerable. The level of oversight and competence did not match what was promised. Families deserve transparency, compassion, and qualified care — not excuses and reactive decision-making. Choosing assisted living is already an emotional and difficult process and especially being on the other side of the US. This experience added unnecessary stress during a time when we needed reassurance and professionalism. Sadly, our experience did not reflect those standards. I strongly encourage others to ask detailed questions, document everything, and carefully evaluate other options before committing to this facility.

I have been in this place only for over a month so far. The place is clean and stuff members are working hard. The problem starts with those who sit behind their desks here and do not train the labor force for their precise duties. For example, the first night I was here, I went to bed early, and at 1am I heard someone who apparently had the keys trying to open my apartment door, then I noticed the person getting inside my apartment, opening the sliding door to my bedroom and getting close to my head in the dark. I got really frightened and started shaking, but I decided to be brave and confront the person despite the fact that I assumed the person might had a gun or so! Well, I found out that it was one of the directors herself who said “ here is your red security necklace, just push it if you are in danger”! I replied why you brought it to me at one am? But she just left! Today also someone else who had the key tried to get in my apartment at early night without at lease knocking at the door first! Once again I got scared but she said “I came to give you a shower since you are under assisted living catagory!” Well she was to give me a shower at 4pm not at night when I was in the bed already! In a nutshell, some desk holders/administrators are themselves not trained enough to train their Labor force. I believe that this place needs a well organized volunteering board of directors with at least five members, one being elected among the residents by the residents. The board needs to develop a well thought policy that dictates their mission statement, who are the share holders if any, the structure of the senior retirement home, costs, etc. A few nice pictures can be added just to promote the retirement home.

I would never recommend this facility to any family looking for care for their loved ones. This facility continually double charged me for care regarding my mother. I kept going to the administration to refute these charges and never had a response nor reply Except for the last admin in charge. This facility has an exceptionally high turnover rate. The numbers were there and she tried to refute and make false claims about charges, even though they were right there in print. My mom came to the point where she was no longer able to stay in assisted-living care. I looked at the Memory Care unit, and it was horrific to say the least. The place smelled of chemicals, urine, and feces. The place was incredibly small leaving little available movement space., There was no fresh air coming in, the colors on the wall were depressing and unhappy. The rooms for the residence looked like a jail cell. And you can have all this great care for your loved one for a small price of a $11,000 a month. I searched for so long to look for a place that I could bring my mother that was safe, caring, spacious, with incredible understanding, and I found it in Washington. Ciel Issaquah Senior Living. I am very adamant about this… Do not bring your loved one to this facility

I am so grateful for Regency at Hualalai and for all the wonderful angels that work there and made possible for my 92 years old mother to stay for a couple of days ( respite care) at this wonderful place. Andrina,Brenda,Tehani,Dion,Jessie,Camille ( spell ? works with Andrina)... So many to name, probably missing a few... I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for making Mom so comfortable and cared for. She had a great time and enjoyed all the activities offered during her stay. It is also such a relief for my husband and myself knowing that we can take a few days off by ourselves while Mom is in excellent hands. Our anniversary is coming up in October and for sure Mom will be a guest at the Regency again :) With gratitude always, Pauline Sult August 2016
