This assisted living facility should not be listed as a rehab, as they to not rehabilitate persons here to my knowledge. If your loved one is a fall risk, they will not touch them. The "nurses" on staff prepare meals and clean up the rooms and residents but there were no activities scheduled for mental stimulation. I only witnessed the residents watch tv. My grandmother was very weak and bedridden her entire stay. Even so, she was eager and motivated to get moving again, as she was an active person before she fell so ill. She consistently complained about one specific nurse, which I never got her name, she acted like she couldn't speak English (According to the owner, Ms. Michelle Lawrence). They used the wrong ointments on parts of her body which made her pain and ailments worse, did not stimulate her in any way, and made no effort to help her gain her mobility. Bathe, feed, medicate, repeat. While my grandmother was alive Ms. Michelle was easy to get in contact with, and as soon as she passed, nothing. I paid rent every month and she passed on January 5th. I cleared her space within a week. I reached out to Ms. Michelle to see if we could work out getting my January payment partially refunded and I never got a response back. If your loved one is mobile, mentally present, and able to communicate, then consider this one of your last options.

I am going to tell my experience with this place in hopes that people can become aware of potentially what they could be stepping into. My grandmother is a patient at Rise and Shine. I called today at 1118hrs to talk to my grandmother. When suddenly I was diverted from talking to my grandmother to talking to the caregiver Mrs. Michele Lawrence. To give a little backdrop to this, I called to talk to my grandmother on a previous day, after my grandmother was released from the hospital. Mrs. Lawrence got on the phone and start yelling at me about she’s tired of the family feuding and all this other stuff, which I had nothing to do with. All I was doing was trying to talk to my grandmother. Nothing more, nothing less. I told Mrs. Lawrence that all I wanted to do was talk to my grandmother, repeatedly. Her husband hears me say this and takes the phone away from her and gets my grandmother on the phone. I talk to my grandmother for a little bit, and told her I love her, and got off the phone. At no point in time did I yell or fuse back with Mrs. Lawrence. But I called to talk to my grandmother today (6/7/2020) and Mrs. Lawrence once again jumped on the phone and told me that she has a peace order against my mother, and because of so that I cannot talk to my grandmother. I am livid at this point. She is trying to deny me access to a woman that helped raised me. Like, I lived with this woman since I was 10 years old to 23. Not only that, but my grandmother was always there for me, just like my mother. My mother and my grandmother have been there every step of the way in my life. I am proudly known to be my grandmother’s favorite grandchild. She has done everything I ever wanted for me. And here it is I am being told by Mrs. Lawrence that I cannot talk to my grandmother. I tried to get her to understand that all I wanted to do was talk to my grandmother. Mrs. Lawrence didn’t care. She said she is tired of my mother and I calling early in the morning trying to talk to my grandmother. The times of calling them are between 8am – 8pm. I always call after 10am, and on today I called at 1118hrs. At this time, I see that she just wanted to reframe me from talking to my grandmother. I tried to get her to understand how important of a role my grandmother has been to get her to sympathize so I could talk to my grandmother. She didn’t want to hear me out, and kept saying because she had a peace order placed against my mother for a review posting (which you can see on here), and a complaint to Adult Protective Services (APS). That’s all. Which the basis has factual support with documents from medical professionals/hospitals. The allegations against her and her business has evidence. Since she denied me the right to talk to my grandmother, I begin to go to the legal route and informed her of so. I called Prince Georges County Police (PGCP) and told of the situation, which they supported my version that there is no peace order against me, and the peace order against my mother. If you want more information, feel free to email me at Aajames84@aol.com. End results was PGCP sided with me, and now I am going to seek legal actions against Rise and Shine.

Mrs. Lawrence the Manager at the Assisted Living is a caring women who cares about her patients. My mother who has been at the Assisted Living since this year and I like the facility. The facility is clean and nicely setup and there are only 3 patients there. I would recommend this facility to others who are looking.
