Lots of great changes are going on at Antioch Valley Senior Living. I would highly recommend booking a tour for your loved one. I had a great experience and when my mother is ready to make a move they will be my first choice.

I totally regret trusting Antioch Valley to care for my mother & you should not trust them either. Staff & management turnover is frequent & not always for the better. Evening & weekend staff are not reliable, will not respond to help buttons. I had to bathe my mom because they only offered bathing her after 9:30 pm. Just a few examples: 4/3 med tech tried to forcibly give mom injection of blood thinner, left mad when mom refused & said she doesn’t get blood thinners & never gave mom her other meds.. The blood thinner was for someone else with the same 1st name. 4/25 Forgot to give her dinner. Took 2 hours to respond to alert. Aid fetched her dinner & turned soup upside down on her tray, Soup spilling on mom, floor, walker & left her to clean it up. She had no dinner. 5/23 mom did not get water pill, staff told her she already had it. She did not. 5/24 Staff told mom her chart said she was already given medication. Mom had to threaten to call 911 if she didn’t receive it again today. She was finally given the meds. 7/31 mom falls in kitchen around 7:30 am. Mom pushes button for help & no response for over 30 minutes. Staff member hears her yelling for help from hallway, they pick her up, & place her in wheelchair. Mom says she’s in horrible pain. Staff member says I’ll see if I can get you aspirin, leaves & doesn’t come back.I arrive approximately 9:00 am, mom is in wheelchair, can’t stand on her own , in horrible pain & urine soaked through gown, legs & wheelchair. Staff still hasn’t checked on her. 7/4 Mom received 6:00 am meds four hours late. 12/25 mom called saying she thinks she had a stroke. Speech is difficult to understand. Upon arrival I ran into LPN of facility. I repeated mom’s concerns. She looked at me, smirked & said, no she has not had a stroke. She just checked her vitals & they were good. They would order oxygen on Monday & maybe an antibiotic. She’s probably coming down with something. I again asked are you sure & she told me she was fine. As I entered mom’s room, it horribly smelled of poop. She was sitting in her chair, naked except for diaper. Her mid back on down was covered in dry shit. She again stated she thinks she had a stroke. Speech is very slurred & her breathing is extremely heavy like it’s difficult to breath. Mom cannot stand on her own. Says she needs bathroom. I told her I needed help lifting her. CNA helped me lift her to portable potty & I tried cleaning shit off her back & butt. We changed diaper & put her back in chair. She immediately went to sleep. I sat with her for approx 2 hours & cleaned up dirty nightgown, poop in the bathroom & knocked over tray. She woke up shortly & I asked her if she wanted a blanket & she nodded yes. That’s the last time I would talk to my mother. The med tech came by & said she was walking with walker & talking perfectly fine that morning. I checked with the nurse & she said she’d check on her shortly. Received call 9:25 that CPR is being given & I begged them to stop. She had a DNR in place but staff could not locate it. As of today, they are claiming I owe them approximately $5000. I paid every month, what they told me to pay. They are incompetent & you should not trust them.

With this the 4th home I've lived in I have felt safer when I lay in bed to sleep. The nurseing staff like Rebecca, Re Re,and Shayla who understands are needs. Also Activities with Tasha and Jessica we have so much fun. Can not brag about the food but it's better then 2 other places

People will always make your experience. And it is the people at AV that make my mom feel safe, cared for and seen. From the wonderful CNAs to the med techs to the housekeeper to the weekend receptionist-their warmth is felt and makes and difference. Special shoutout to Karen, Mikayla, Leah, and Shayla that all give my mom a little extra love.

I am a resident at Antioch valley, for over a year now. I truly believe this place is a home like environment. I love how the nursing staff makes you feel like their family in the care they give. The new adon Rebecca is the best thing that has happened to the building. She truly has changed the facility for the better. She makes your wants and needs a personal agenda for her to make your everyday; a Great one!
