Deeply Unprofessional Front Desk Conduct My family’s experience with Wedgewood Assisted Living was made unnecessarily painful by the person who serves as the face of their business—the front desk attendant. Every visit to see my late mother was met with rudeness, dismissive behavior, and a complete lack of empathy. What is most disturbing is that, on the day after my mother passed away, this same staff member yelled at my wife and daughter. At a time when compassion and professionalism should have been the bare minimum, we were met with hostility and disrespect. It is unacceptable for someone with such a lack of basic courtesy and emotional awareness to be the first point of contact for residents’ families. The front desk represents the tone and values of any care facility, and Wedgewood has chosen a person who reflects neither care nor respect. Families entrust this facility with their loved ones, and they deserve kindness and dignity—not contempt. I sincerely hope management addresses this issue and reevaluates who they have representing their organization.

Wedgewood Park (formerly Royal Park) appears to buy good review reports, as our experience was FAR FROM 5 star. Royal Park/Wedgewood Park was recommended by an agent of Care Patrol. It was presented as an active, vibrant place for our relative and we decided to place him there. Relatives were at the facility often to make sure he was settling in well. Red flags appeared early on, after which we decided to continue to have family members present as much as possible. There were repeated issues with calibrating a diabetic diet for him and once an employee came in to check his blood glucose (had a high 333 number and employee said time to get him some orange juice - which by the way could have put our loved one into a diabetic coma!). We opted to have Royal/Wedgwood do the laundry as well but almost 2 weeks went by without it being done. There was a mini fridge in his apartment which we checked from time to time. We were horrified to find Doritos, a hotdog in a bun with chips, which explained why his glucose readings were often sky high. All that food was obtained at Royal/Wedgewood Park, as only one relative who had POA for him brought him food and it was only Costco nut bars and zero calorie flavored waters. He also needed leg compression sox and wraps put on every morning and taken off every evening. The staff failed to get it right for the entire time of his stay. They'd either forget to put them on at all or not bother to remove them at night. A relative was there during different times of the day and quite often he had no wraps on by noon and one evening a relative decided to wait until staff came to remove them. No one showed up by 9:40 at night so relative removed them for him. And as they left they saw 2 staff sitting in the wellness center room just down the hall talking. The straw that broke the camel's back was when a relative was walking down the hall to visit him, they saw the bottle of his prescription eye drops lying on the hallway floor (the drops are supposed to be under lock and key and under the control of the nursing staff.) After repeatedly bringing these and other issues to the attention of staff and management, we were met with resistance and our concerns dismissed, only stating that staff will be further educated. Why is there staff present who have not been properly educated in the first place? Especially those who are administering and handling the residents medications. You would think that for a $2,000 down payment and $6,800 a monthly charge, they'd do everything in their power to preserve the health and safety of our loved one. Sadly, the complete opposite was the case. After we removed him from Royal/Wedgewood, we met with the management who promised to refund our downpayment, which they failed to do. We have reported all of this to the State of Washington overseeing agency, as well as told multiple family and friends of our disappointing experience. On a positive note, we were treated kindly by the 2 receptionists, they were rays of sunshine for us during a very frustrating time.

My mom is at Royal Park and I come to see her weekly. Everyone of the staff is caring. There is always a nurse checking in on her to make sure she is coming to the dining room. The food is delicious with a menu that offers a variety of foods. There is always an alternate choice if you don't like the main dish. There's other options to choose from with 2 hour's advance notice, such as a grilled cheese sandwich. The activities are so fun, Denise does a fantastic job coordinating music groups to perform and original activities like shark week. There was also a Olympics party at the closing of the games which the staff performed and even dressed up! It was a blast! If you call, you might get a friendly voice like Joanne, Doreen or even Amy. They all love what they do and it shows! This is a great place for your loved one to stay ❤️
