Look..... I understand the resentment toward this place. I do because I was housed there... Yes, some unprofessional things occurred. But with that said, the place is 24/7, and it's tough to keep a staff that deals with the absolute worst humanity can throw at you. I was housed there for a LONG time. Trust me, it was HELL, but from being there, I was able to look at life in an entirely different way. Some people are sent there that absolutely should not be. That's a problem with the system and not the house. I have no idea how it's transformed since I was a resident there but what I do know is.... even though it feels like a death sentence knowing that is the place you are going. There is so much you can gain from the experience. Very few make it. All there was at the end of a year was a handful of people; thankfully, I was one of them. Regardless of the place or the circumstances, you never know what you have until it's either dangling in front of your face or, even worse, it's gone... I cannot speak for anyone else but myself, but the Ryan House changed my life fo r the better, and I am grateful for it.

Don’t go here! Case worker lacked, empathy and failed at learning her clients. Director, Sue, is hot tempered and unprofessional. The emphasis is on paper homework instead of emotional healing. They encourage limited sharing of the clients. They don’t want any conversation about questionable pasts (which is all some clients have). Despite their focus on paper, they can’t can’t keep their own paper work together and know the information in it. One person said to pick up possessions with in 30 days and director said 2 weeks. Director said to a parent of an addict that exited their program, “well, if he wouldn’t have failed the program we wouldn’t be having this conversation.” We didn’t have a choice but to go to this facility, I knew the outcome before it happened after reading the reviews while our loved one was in there.

I survived it...but the transition team there was of no use to me for discharge planning

This establishment is by far the most unprofessional place I have stumbled upon in life. The staff is unorganized, rude, unprofessional and not to mention enablers (to the clients.) I've seen first hand how they fraternize with multiple clients and it blew my mind! They also seem to be ok with telling clients it's okay to break the law ("avoid the cops" or "if we get pulled over we will just tell them we are from the Ryan House." I honestly think the county or state needs to step in and get this place on track. These people need help and also need to be treated like the adults that they are.

This place is very run down and looks like the house should be torn down. It is a halfway house for ex-cons but looks like a total dump. Is this the best the Department of Corrections can do for people? The house is very outdated and needs to be totally renovated.
