My wife of 49 years is a current resident of a Sage Oak property, having moved in last November. I could not be more pleased with the quality and professionalism of the care she receives! There are only 8 residents in the home, and there are always 2 fully qualified caregivers on location 24/7. My wife suffered brain cancer in Jan 1998, and although the cancer has never returned, her physical and cognitive abilities have declined with aging. And for the last 2 years she has not been able to use her legs or Rt arm, and her speech and memory have deteriorated. She requires constant care and assistance with all daily living functions. Sage Oak has provided incredibly good care of my wife. They get her out of bed daily for meals at the dining room table and social time in the den. The caregiving staff is attentive, friendly and helpful. They receive fresh food deliveries several times a week, and prepare nutritious hot meals 3 times a day. In addition to caring for the personal hygienic needs of my wife, they clean rooms, bedding and personal laundry on a regular weekly schedule. With our 6 children and 9 grands, and my work, church, exercise, high school support and college support activities, we are blessed to have the professional staff of Sage Oak to care for my wife! Thanks for providing the care that you do! --tm

As a Hospice Community Liason and retired social worker, I strive to visit facilities and explore if they have the adequate ratio per employer, how clean they are, if the residents are actively involved in activities of their own according to their capability. Mr. Seth Hodges/Manager, was so accessible and open to let me see the facility. The residents were engaged in their own activities, the staff was attentive to their needs and able to provide 1 on 1 care. The facility provided an open space lay out which allows for great supervision at all times. I will definitely continue build a relationship and recommend.

My mother is currently at Sage Oak and loves it. It’s a warm, nurturing home rather than a facility. I live in another state, but mom raves about the staff treating her like family, especially the house manager Alicia and the nursing director Juanita. Mom has decided she wants to stay long-term versus moving back home. This was always my hope because Sage Oak does for mom what she can’t do for herself. I strongly believe mom will be around a lot longer because of the level of care provided - Sage Oak makes sure she goes to all her doctors’ appointments, eats healthy, and has human interactions. 9/19/24 Update Mom has been at Sage Oak for almost three years! In April she moved to Michigan for two weeks, hated it (largely because she missed the food at Sage Oak Aberdeen & her caregivers :)), and promptly moved back to Sage Oak. The owners were flexible and accommodating-moved her into Sage Mockingbird until a room was available at Aberdeen. I have had the benefit of comparing similarly priced retirement communities. The other communities are nice and clean too. The main differences I have witnessed are much more human interaction/love/caring; almost zero wait time when mom needs help with something, and food (institutional vs home cooked/personalized nutrition). I have access/timely response to/from the ownership (Seth), the head of nursing (Juanita), and the house manager (Candy). I came in town last week for mom’s birthday and took her to North Park Mall and her caregivers had her all dressed with her hair, makeup, and nails done - see picture. She’s happy at Sage Oak and I can’t thank them enough for all they do.

I placed my father at Sage Oak (Mockingbird) because he needed more individualized attention than other facilities are able to provide. Sage Oak is a caring assisted-living environment in a home setting.  The house is always spotless and my dad is always clean and well groomed. The caregivers are wonderful and attentive to the residents' every need. The staff is always willing to provide updates and answer any question. I sleep soundly knowing that my dad is not only safe and well cared for, but is also being shown love by his caregivers.  It is a great comfort having my dad at Sage Oak.

Recently my Mom and I decided to move my Dad from a larger memory care facility to Sage Oak Mockingbird Lane home. The team made three visits to Dad prior to the move. They spent a great deal of time talking with him as well as observing him in preparation for the move. Then they created a plan for the transition. During this time, they communicated regularly and clearly with my Mom regarding the plan often seeking her insights about Dad. They even helped her set up Dad’s new room at their home. As a result, the transition over the last couple of weeks has gone smoothly. My Mom says it’s as if Dad had always been at the Mockingbird house. Dad has done much better in the smaller home setting than at the previous larger facility. It is much quieter and that helps tremendously. The staff has gone out of their way to get to know Dad and work with his behavior issues stemming from Alzheimer’s. When a problem arose recently, the team quickly assessed his medicine and made changes that solved the issue. Upon hearing that my parents’ celebrated their 58th anniversary, they arranged a special dinner, complete with candlelight and Dad’s favorite food-dessert. Dad has been at the Mockingbird home for about four weeks and we are hopeful that this will be his permanent home.
