San Gabriel Memory Care

My 102-year-old mother has been a resident at San Gabriel Memory Care since the middle of this last July. We wanted her as close to friends as possible in a facility that would meet her growing needs due to worsening dementia and mobility issues. My sister and I live on opposite coasts and it wasn't practical to move mom away from her remaining friends and extended family. After touring another memory care facility closer to her Greenville home and an assisted living facility that she didn't qualify for, we asked a staff member at the assisted living where they would want their mom to be if they had to make this choice. They said San Gabriel in Highland with no hesitation. When we arrived at San Gabriel (without an appointment!), we were greeted and immediately given the tour. We were impressed with Amber, the manager, and the care she showed to the residents and her staff. The facility is spotless. The common areas are lovely. Each resident brings in their own decorations and furniture for their private room. There are many activities and visiting musicians to entertain the residents. Communication has been very good with staff, CNAs and the RNs. Because my sister and I can't be there in person as often as we would like, we do have mom's personal CNA continue to go in and help her twice a week at the facility to make sure everything is okay and continue to offer a consistent familiar face that mom usually remembers. I video visit weekly with my mom with her Alexa Echo Show. She needs help calling me but staff as well as her personal CNA help her. I highly recommend San Gabriel. They have worked hard to transition our mother into memory care during a difficult time with kindness and understanding. Thank you San Gabriel Memory Care!

San Gabriel Memory Care in Highland is the best! The staff are very caring and make you feel like part of their family. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing your mother is well taken care of at all times. We feel so lucky to have this caring quality of staff and residents living here. Our mom is very happy here!! Wendy was so SWEET. She helped my mother-in-law this morning. Watching her caring and kind words, waking her so that I could visit for her birthday made me so Thankful that grandma was treated so SPECIAL. This is a truly SPECIAL place. I have visited others & ALL the care givers, workers & Very Kind. Makes me feel so THANKFUL for all they do for all the people living here in Highland. I also have a first cousin who moved in here lately. Believe me NO PLace like this!

Our family is very pleased with the care our Mom gets at San Gabriel! One of my sibling or I visit every day so we see the continual care she receives from the staff. We also have a monitor in our Mother’s room (because some of us live far away) and we love to be able to keep an eye on her at anytime! Thank you for care of our Mothet❤️

My mom was here for almost 4 years and my dad has been here for 2 years. The care they receive is really good. It’s very clean and feels more like home instead of a facility. The new manager Amber has made some really great changes. The food is homemade with fresh fruit and vegetables available at every meal. The environment is pleasant. There are activities everyday. They also plan field trips on a regular basis. I like that I can talk with the nurses and Amber about my dad’s care anytime. I really appreciate all they do to make it feel like home.
