There are several good things to say about this place: most employees are very nice, the food is great, and the "independent living-style" setup they have is also great. It's VERY important to know this is NOT a place to send a loved one if you want them to live out the rest of their lives. This place does nothing more than babysit their residents. They are very good with mental and social needs of the residents but do next to nothing regarding physical needs. As soon as your loved one is unable to walk around, take showers, brush teeth.. anything like that, they will find an opportunity to dump them off at the emergency room and tell the family they cannot provide a higher level of care and that your loved one can't come back. It's quite baffling that they are willing to advertise care they don't actually provide on their website and they violated their own contract several times. During the tour, the owner stressed repeatedly the importance of NOT moving Alzheimer's/dementia patients around because it's detrimental to their quality of life and Schooner is the place to ensure that it would NEVER happen. Well, guess that was a lie too.
