SEDGWICK PLAZA

It was time for Mom to transition from living on her own to assisted living. She was isolated, lonely, and depressed, and her level of cognitive decline was outgrowing what hubby and I were able to do to keep her "independent". We were also gearing up for an out-of-state move (which would include her). We needed a place where she could be safe and comfortable while we prepared to move our household and hers. Sedgwick Plaza staff were extremely accommodating to us and our special circumstances, and Mom moved into one of their AL apartments. Being freed from meal prep, medication management, etc, we were then able to pack Mom's place unhindered, all while she got to enjoy the people, activities, and food at Sedgwick Plaza. She really loved her stay there, which was about 3 months. Bible studies, bingo, movies, field trips, and lots of fun and interesting residents to hang out with. The staff were all helpful, warm, and accommodating, and we are so grateful for how they made our move possible and for how happy Mom was during her stay there. She is fiercely independent and had always rejected the idea of living in a retirement community. (To her it meant "nursing home" and a loss of independence, no matter what we said to the contrary.) So it was amazing to see how the staff got her excited about moving in and how she took to it once there. She realized she had more independence and agency (and social opportunities) at Sedgwick Plaza than she did when she was on her own and counting on us for everything. In short, Sedgwick Plaza is a lively place. It's clean and smells good, the staff are helpful and kind, the residents are fun, and the activity calendar is full.

My daughter and I went to a bingo fundraiser here over the weekend. We had a blast! I always love seeing how Sedgwick Plaza gives back to the community, along with having tons of fun with their residents and employees.

Sedgwick Plaza is such a wonderful community! I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know several of the residents, and they all speak so highly of the staff, the activities, and the sense of belonging they feel here. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming — it truly feels like home. What really stands out is how well Sedgwick Plaza and Home Instead work together. The coordination and teamwork between them make a big difference in the residents’ day-to-day lives. It’s clear that everyone involved genuinely cares about the people who live there and goes the extra mile to make sure they’re happy, comfortable, and supported. You can tell the residents feel safe, valued, and cared for — and that says everything. Sedgwick Plaza, along with Home Instead, creates such a positive and uplifting environment for everyone who calls it home!

Lawonder, the Activities Director, goes above and beyond to create meaningful experiences that bring residents so much joy. We at Dignity Memorial Wichita have had the privilege of partnering with them for several events — from our Glamorous Grandma Photos (complete with wine, snacks, hair, makeup, and photo shoots for families) to lively Karaoke Days where we sang our hearts out with fun glasses, air guitars, and tambourines! Each visit reminds us that this isn’t just a senior living community — it’s a place where fun and comfort truly come together. We recently moved my aunt into Sedgwick Plaza, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about this community. From day one, the staff has been incredibly welcoming, patient, and attentive, not just to my aunt, but to our entire family as we navigated this transition. The communication is excellent, and you can tell that every team member truly cares about the residents’ well-being and happiness. My aunt feels comfortable, safe, and cared for, which gives our family so much peace of mind. The activities are engaging, the meals are great, and the overall atmosphere is warm and inviting, it feels like home. I am so grateful we chose Sedgwick Plaza.
