My Brother was well cared for, in the last six months of his life. The staff, & owners -Dr Rahman, & Dr Syeed, were kind & loving, to both my brother, myself, & his niece. It felt like he was home, & not “in a home.” I cannot say enough about the staff. I will miss them all.

My uncle moved to Elderly Haven when he switched to hospice and could no longer be unsupervised in his assisted living. He was well taken care of, his room was always clean, and the hospice nurses commented on how nice the place was. He was there for 6 months before he passed. They accommodated his Alzheimer's and diabetes well.

Dr. Rahman and Dr. Syeeda have been absolutely incredible. They have been very supportive and helpful with Mom before and after Mom left the board and care. She suffered a fall when she left and came back and has been doing better ever since. Dr. Rahman and Dr. Syeeda have been very understanding and caring with Mom. She was eager to come back to the facility since she not only liked Dr. Rahman and Dr. Syeeda but she also likes the staff as well. Thank you Dr. Rahman for helping Mom.

The time finally came when my father was unable to live on his own. It was a very stressful and confusing time. He had insurance, but where do we take him? My mom somehow found Elderly Haven for him. It is run by Dr. Rahman and Dr. Akhter-Rahman. They are both really knowledgable, genuine, and it is obvious they care about their residents. It is a converted house in Mira Mesa, really close to Miramar Road and the 15 freeway. It has a spacious living room, with an outside patio that is accessible from the living room and some other rooms. They are always working on improving. If we have a concern, they listen and really try to help to make things better. This is a transitional time of life that can be very difficult for the family. Words like "Rest Home", "Elderly Care Facility", and "Nursing Home" are scary for some (including me). However, Elderly Haven eased that fear. They are so welcoming, my dad is very comfortable there (after he accepted that he couldn't live on his own), and there are good people working there. Here is a brief anecdote that exemplifies how they care: My mom lives on her own, but recently she had difficult back surgery. Dr. Rahman heard of this and offered to let her stay in a room that had just recently opened up so she could recover and get her strength back. Alternatively she was having a home care nurse come to her house a few hours a day, but that wasn't enough. Having her at Elderly Haven was a big help to the family since I work full time with two young children, so I was not able to be with my mom to fully commit to helping her with her recovery. We are lucky we found this place. It is not one of those big impersonal corporate home care living places we've seen. This is a smaller, homey place with a personal touch. Oh, and the food is pretty darn good!
