I excepted more after having been there before a few years ago for my mom and being profoundly impressed (unfortunately she passed before she moved in). Just visited last week and it was after business hours so there was no manager to speak to and I didn't recognize any faces, but my entire impression was poor. So poor that I felt compelled to write a review to warn others that are seeking care. The staff was very rude, totally disinterested in the patients, on their phones. People were knocked out, looked overmedicated, it was really sad. There were a few roaches in the hallways and in the kitchen on the counter that goes between the kitchen and dining room. So unsanitary. There was also two patients sitting outside and it was very hot over 95 degrees. Try to avoid if at all possible.

My father has lived at Serenity Oaks for the last seven months, and we love the care he receives. My family and I moved him there after touring the facility, talking to the new owner, and visiting with the staff. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, and the kitchen is gleaming. We have often joined Dad for their monthly celebrations and activities, and the food is great. The owner and staff care for the residents. It’s easy to see in their daily interactions and in how clean, comfortable, and well cared for the residents are. They let us visit at any hour and offer us kindness and hospitality during every visit. The residents regularly participate in activities, have a multitude of therapies available to them, and have scheduled hydration and snack times throughout the day, as well as opportunities to exercise. The courtyard between the buildings is open, airy, and beautifully landscaped, allowing residents to move freely between them. I, too, initially had my doubts and saw the reviews from the previous ownership before touring, but I chose to give the facility a chance after a stellar recommendation from the representative of the Texas long-term care Ombudsman, who was helping us navigate a complaint about the previous facility where Dad had lived. If you're looking for a place to help care for your loved ones, please consider popping by the facility and checking it out.

Stinks, saw multiple roaches inside, dog hair everywhere along with feces. They won’t take good care of your loved ones. Especially ones on hospice. Horrible facility don’t bring any of your family members here.

Serenity Oaks is a wonderful facility with staff who are welcoming and friendly! My mom has been going to Serenity during the day while I'm at work for about a year now and she has really enjoyed the activities and socializing with other residents who are in her same age range. From the time you walk in, Serenity feels like a home rather than a cold assisted living facility and the courtyard has really nice winding pathways that anyone would love to take a stroll through. The best part is that if I ever need to take a trip out of town, I know that they'll have a room available for my mom to stay so I have the peace of mind that she's safe and very well taken care of. I would highly recommend Serenity Oaks to anyone who is looking for a safe and friendly place for their loved one!

Think twice before putting your loved one in here. Not very knowledgeable or helpful was the vibe I got. Said private pay was $5000.00 a month. What's the purpose of long term care insurance is my question.
