Merrill Gardens at Sheldon Park

My wife and I began looking for an assisted living facility last summer. After I made a cursory online search of local options and collected a list of possibilities I was advised to get professional guidance and did so. Following a consult to determine our needs she went over our list, ordered them, and Merrill Gardens was her top recommendation. After visiting three we felt comfortable that Merrill could suit our needs. An opening occurred there within weeks of our visit and we moved in four months ago. We have been very pleased that our process led us to them. The staff outnumbers the residents and not enough can be said about how uniformly pleasant they are. Activities are numerous and varied enough to suit all tastes. They provide a monthly list of all activities which are updated daily. My wife is particularly pleased with the musical performers they bring in to entertain us, typically three times a week. A bus is available for doctor, shopping and country-side touring trips. Food options are tasty and varied regularly and though under-spiced, perhaps understandably so, our chef has been quick to provide hot sauces on request. A nice feature is the on-demand list of salads, hot and cold sandwiches, desserts and other quick items. Merrill accepts pets and they have an enclosed courtyard that can be used to walk them, or to just sit and enjoy the quiet.

I’ve been very happy with my dad’s experience here so far. The staff is wonderful. Everyone we’ve encountered has been friendly, helpful, and genuinely kind. The facility itself is really nice and very clean, and his room has everything he needs to be comfortable. There are also lots of activities available, which has been great for keeping him engaged and involved. The food is honestly good, I know this firsthand because I’ve been joining him for lunch. Overall, it’s been a very positive experience, and we feel good knowing he’s well cared for.

I’ve lived at Merrill Gardens. I first came here in February 2025 and I absolutely love it. I wouldn’t want to go any place else when I was looking for a place to live. I toured the facility and there was music going in the library and people milling around playing in a card game going in the lobby and two women were sitting there and playing cards and I asked them both how they liked living here and they said that they really liked it. They loved it and I asked him how the food was and they both gave me great reviews of it and now after all this time I can give my own review which the food is fantastic. You’re thinking in a place this large there would be a lot of grips. You’re not having that many people to serve three times a day, but it’s usually always good and if you find that you can’t like it or don’t want to eat it, you can pick something else with no problems, but the people, workers. The servers are always nice no matter what capacity their work and they’re always nice and friendly and the people who live here are friendly they always smile and say hello and other places, I’ve toured to check them out the residents didn’t look happy and I think if your tour place ask a couple of residents who live there what they think of it and you’ll get I believe an honest review of it and then you can make up your own minds. I have been associated with Merrill Gardens Sheldon Park for many years. I have been able to refer families there as part of my job, and every family has been extremely happy and has felt cared for. The number of nurses they have, the experienced staff, they have people that have worked together for years, and the leadership that hasn’t changed for many years is amazing. I will continue to refer to them and would recommend them highly to anyone who is looking for a really great community for them or their loved ones. Incredible, devoted, experienced, trustworthy!
