As my mom began to need more care in her later years, we were fortunate enough to find Silver Heart Chateau. From the move in to the time that she passed, I was always impressed with the professionalism, compassion, and level of care that we received from Hideen and her whole team. Hilda, Lorna, and Melissa are all angels on earth. They cared for mom like she was one of their own family members. Dealing with dementia patients can be a challenge and they navigate it with patience and grace, treating all residents with great care. They were all incredibly supportive to my mom and our family through her passing. I can’t imagine a better place for my mom to spend her final days and I am grateful to everyone at Silver Heart Chateau.

My mom has been with SHC for almost 3 years now and is in her 90s. My mom has received the best care from Hideen and her staff. They have build my trust with them through their professionalism and kindness towards my mom. The staff has shown that they prioritize cleanliness snd safety. My Mom's daily needs have always been satisfied with quality food and individual care. Blessed to have caring Angels looking after my mom.

Mom lived the last year and a half of her life at Silver Heart Chateau, a dementia care home owned and run by a wonderfully loving family with a highly experienced RN at the helm. The home is meticulously clean, the food delicious and plentiful and the care is highly individualized to each resident. The SHC team tailored their care to meet the ever changing needs of Mom. They worked diligently every day to recognize and acknowledge who Mom was as an individual, giving her as much control as was safe, while always working to maintain her sense of self and preserve her dignity. The very stable staff and 5 other residents became surrogate family and her best friends. The communication between staff and our family was incredibly good as staff worked closely with us day in and day out on all care decisions. In fact, the SHC staff became like family to us. I cannot imagine Mom having had a better place to live out her final days.

Silver Heart is a family owned and run business and before long you will realize you are being treated like family as well and that's in a good way! Hideen, the owner, is on-site most days of the week and that is big plus for residents as well as family members. An owner who actually works on-premises usually results in a well-run operation that sweats the details, is attentive to individual resident's needs, and does an outstanding job of communicating to family about a resident's status, requests, and needs. This is absolutely true at Silver Heart and Hideen and her staff take real pride in providing this comprehensive and high level of excellent care. The first thing you will notice about Silver Heart is how meticulously clean and, most importantly to me, how odor-free the place is unlike so many other care facilities I had checked out. This does not happen by accident. It takes great management and an equally great staff. Even when I would show up unannounced, I always found Richard, my friend of over 40 years, clean, dry, comfortable, and in all ways well cared for. Just as importantly, his room was always maintained at a comfortable temperature even during Santee's hot summers. Even though his room was on the south-side of the facility and facing the afternoon sun, it stayed equally as cool as the other rooms because Hideen had gone to the expense of installing window air conditioners in the south facing rooms to assist the central air conditioning system on hot summer days. Another thing I was impressed with is that every thing at Silver Heart works. I did not find any broken or defective equipment that wasn't repaired within a day. In addition, Silver Heart utilizes an array of monitoring equipment to ensure the safety of their residents. Richard was prone to want to get out of bed by himself which he could not do on his own without the danger of injuring himself. Silver Heart's multiple types of of monitoring equipment enabled Hideen's staff to promptly intervene and provide assistance. Richard never so much as got a scratch or a bruise while living at Silver Heart. What really impressed me about Silver Heart is that I almost always found residents "up and about" engaged in meals, recreation, watching TV in the main room, relaxing out in the garden, or socializing. There was no evidence of residents wanting to stay holed-up and isolated in their private rooms which is usually a sign of a less-than-caring staff. Although it is more work for the staff to have residents continually "up and about", it certainly is healthier for the residents. Nevertheless, since my friend Richard tended to be a private person, he was also afforded "his space" when he desired it. Although patients can choose to remain in their rooms as much as they and their family want, most find that the atmosphere in the common areas of Silver Heart to be inviting. While at Silver Heart, Richard did pass away from his terminal illness as expected. Hideen and her staff were outstanding in their support during this difficult time for the family. Their normal, very generous visiting hours were extended to whatever was needed by family. Hideen's excellent relationship with Hospice agencies and their visiting staff ensured that they responded PROMPTLY to expertly attend to Richard's needs and comfort. Hideen and her staff flawlessly ensured that only approved visitors could visit Richard because he would otherwise be overwhelmed by too many well-wishers. Silver Heart has great gatekeepers & security. Like me, you have probably looked at or will look at many care-giving facilities. Remember, no matter how fancy and luxurious a care-giving facility appears to be, the quality of the staff is what makes the difference in the level of care and attention your loved one will experience. Consequently, I soon came to realize that Silver Heart was mis-named. It should be called "Gold Heart" for the excellent level of care it provides residents AND their families. Give this excellent care-giving facility a serious look. Your time will be well-spent.
