Skyline Estates

Last year, my grandmother passed away, and someone stole her gold necklace with an angel pendant which was made of my grandfather’s wedding ring. I’m still very upset about this. They either failed to secure her belongings or stole it themselves. Filed a police report but unsurprisingly nothing came of it. The manager blamed it on her neighbor, Gene, and were supposed to check for it, but never did and never called me. When I contacted the funeral service, they had said it seemed to happen there a lot. The depravity of some people is outstanding.

Took a tour last week with my mom and d husband. Residence and staff were very friendly and helpful. Frances a wellness director gave us the tour, friendly and answered all our questions. Long story short, we chose Skyline for mom. Went back on 7/15 and took care of paper work etc. Once again Frances made everything smooth. Thank you Frances for making the transaction easy.. Barb. I would not leave my dog at this place. Director Alyssa’s rapport with residents and their families leaves much to be desired. I honestly assumed she was filling in for the main director as she had zero compassion and very scripted responses to questions. It always felt she was annoyed with any questions at all. I had to request that my brother get a catheter due to him not laying in his urine & feces for several hours. I asked one of the caretakers where my brother's blankets I bought him were and she walked me to both laundry rooms to help identify them. I almost gagged in these rooms as in both of them had several tall baskets full of urine and feces still in the dirty bedding. I clearly saw feces. Several times when visiting my brother on the weekends. The caretaker on shift was in the break room watching videos on his cell phone, this was more times than not. Many times, after visiting my brother I had to wash my shoes due to the urine that somehow spilled out of his catheter replacements. I realize the hospice nurse was responsible for catheter not Skyline Estates, but they are responsible for patient and room hygiene. On one occasion I walked into my brother's room and immediately assumed he needed his diaper changed as his room smelled like their laundry room. Not only did he need his diaper changed but it was also my brother's full-size garbage can that was overflowing with dirty diapers. Out of the 2 years my brother suffered he only complained 2 times and one of them was toward the end of his stay here. He had tears rolling down his face pleading for me to get him out of there. I will be reporting Skyline Estates to the state of Nevada and the health department. I have photos of this neglect. My brother was there summer of 2023

If you Love your family member and want good care DO NOT PUT THEM in Skyline. Several residents that are in the Assisted Living side are not appropriate and should be in the Dementia unit. These residents would not know how to use the call button in any emergency….including getting out if there was a fire. They do not have enough staff and have the care staff cooking and cleaning dishes instead of taking care of residents. Only 1 staff available at the night shift. The care staff even complained that they are short of staff and have to wash the dishes as the dishwasher and garbage disposal were broken for a long time. Another residents family also said they expressed they weren’t giving her family member showers and went in to complain. The care is horrible…. Make sure you take pictures of anything you observe as they will deny otherwise what is really happening.

If you care about your loved one, please look into other options. We had a horrible experience with Skyline Estates and pulled my Mom out for safety concerns after 3 months. Also, many of the 5-star reviews on Skyline Estates are from their own employees. Don't be fooled.
