Our family had a deeply disappointing experience with Mercy House Waco. They interviewed and accepted our great aunt, who was on hospice, assuring us they could provide the care she needed. Within days it became clear they were not equipped to care for her, and she had to be moved to an actual nursing facility. She passed away 7 days after arriving. Despite being there only 5 days and despite their inability to provide the care they had agreed to, we were charged $16,000 and have not been refunded. When my sister left an honest review describing this experience, she received a message stating they would no longer offer any further assistance because we had “taken it public.” A single honest review should not end a facility’s willingness to make things right with a grieving family. I’d also encourage anyone reading to look carefully at the timing and pattern of reviews on this page. Multiple glowing reviews posted within a short window of a critical one is worth noticing. Read with a discerning eye and ask the facility hard questions about their actual capacity to care for medically complex or hospice patients before trusting them with a loved one — and before paying anything upfront. We are sharing this so other families can make a more informed decision than we were able to.
