Let's all acknowledge that not being able to keep your parents in their home -- or your home -- is hard. Finding a place you truly trust with their care is even harder. I placed my mom in another, local, residential care facility for almost 6 years. When her needs changed to requiring more targeted care and more frequent attention, Splendor Valley was recommended by the hospice care I had secured. When I first called they did not have an opening. If your need is not urgent, I highly recommend you ask if there may be an opening "soon" and get on their list. I will never, never regret my decision to place my mom with Marisa & Mark who are the owner/administrators of Splendor Valley. I can't imagine any facility with a more caring, genuinely concerned approach than what I experienced. After the first several weeks they are careful to arrange for a meeting to ensure your needs, as a family, are being met. They continually sought out feedback and checked with me to ensure I was happy with my mom's care. As she continued to decline, their interaction increased to ensure I was comfortable with her care. The staff is wonderful and genuinely invested in the residents. Whether it's puzzles, watching a favorite TV show or, as with my mom, ensuring her favorite music was always played on her CD player, they cared for the individual. My mom was afflicted with advanced dementia and quickly became non-verbal after placement. I cannot highlight enough the dignity they afforded her and their conversational tone in caring for her. Bar none: if you're faced with the difficult decision to secure assistance with your aging loved one, this is the place. My lovely mother was always clean, comfortable and so very well cared for. I will be forever grateful that her journey this side of heaven ended at Splendor Valley. Keep up the good work, Mark & Marisa. There is such a need for caring people such as yourselves. With the deepest affection I leave this review and hope it opens the door for others to benefit like I did and, most importantly, my sweet mom.

Marisa and her team are phenomenal. Our mom (Mama Donna as we call her) has been a resident for over a year, through Covid and with all the challenges our world has faced, our experience with Splendor Valley has been warm, caring and supportive. Marisa treats our Mama Donna like she is family and it is with great enthusiasm that we recommend this amazing place to anyone looking for care.

Tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day. will mark the 10-month mark of Mom's passing at Splendor Valley. As I reflect, I am so Thankful to Marisa and all of the staff at Splendor Valley for the care and attention that they provided Mom. I heard about Splendor Valley from a dear old friend whose Mom had been at Splendor for a long time. She had nothing but good things to say about Splendor and now I know why. In spite of Covid restrictions which impacted facilities of this nature hard, Marisa made every opportunity to allow me to communicate with Mom via Zoom calls and outdoor meetings. I live in West Virginia and so when I visited, every effort was made to provide me access to Mom. Being so far away it was very reassuring to have Mom in a place where everyone cared passionately about her comfort and care. The night that Mom passed, I was kept informed by Marisa every step of the way about Mom's condition. They were with her when she passed and called me immediately. I know that Mom's care could not have been better and that gave me great peace of mind being so far away. They coordinated with Hospice and handled every aspect of Mom's stay with love and compassion. I will never forget the people at Splendor Valley and I will always be thankful for their presence in the last months of Mom's life. Tom Williamson

I moved my Mother into the Splendor Valley LTC in February of this year (2020). The board and care home at which she was living had a change of ownership and went into rapid decline. The decision to move her to Splendor Valley proved to be a wise one. Mark, Marissa, and staff worked as a team to provide my Mother with excellent, compassionate care. You could sense by how my Mother smiled at each of them that she felt trust, at peace, and content in her new home. It wasn’t long before the pandemic put a stop to my daily visits, and Mark was so helpful in helping our family stay in touch via Zoom. Although stressful to not be able to visit my Mom in person, I knew I could depend on Marissa to phone me with any concerns, and to keep me informed of my Mother’s health status as her life neared its end. I always felt that my Mother was treated with dignity and love. I can’t say enough good things about our experience with the folks at Splendor Valley LTC. Thank You, and may God Bless you all. —A Grateful Son

My father's health was declining and he was no longer able to live in an assisted living facility. My husband and I toured many board and care facilities, however, none of them met our standards. Dad's hospice nurse recommended visiting Splendor Valley. We are so thankful that we did! Splendor Valley is beautiful, clean, and spacious. Most importantly, the owners, Mark and Marisa Lu, are truly caring, compassionate and knowledgeable. Although my father only lived a few short weeks at Splendor Valley, I knew that he was receiving the very best care possible. Mark and Marisa looked after him as if he was part of their family. They treated him with dignity and respect. I felt at peace knowing that when I couldn't be with him, he was with people I trusted. When dad died, Marisa was with us. She was gentle, kind and supportive. Mark and Marisa are a unique couple, who are committed and passionate about caring for others. Splendor Valley offers more than just a place for a parent - they offer a loving home.
