So I was worried about sending my mother there to receive rehabilitation to transfer home from the hospital, because my grandmother had recently passed away after a weeks stay there. But, after reading the reviews and knowing that she only needed rehab that I believed she would get it and come home. Well, she’s been there 4 days. The first day she was not fed. Two days in a row the person in charge of her rehabilitation has come into the room and said she’d be back. Never showed up. And to add to the list, when I called the nurse Jessica, she was very rude and told me that my mother was confused. My mother does not have amnesia, dementia, or Alzheimer’s. She simply had a rash from cancer that debilitated her. Do not send your loved ones there!!!

I had an wonderful experience at Sprenger. I was in Memorial Hospital for a major surgery and it was my first time for a major surgery so I didn't know what to expect when the hospital told me I was going to Sprenger. I was made to feel right at home, the nurses were attentive, and the PT people are amazing . They helped me to feel like I was going to walk and sometimes I did wonder but I did! I also had a pic line that required much care and I was always taken care of! When I left Sprenger after 2 months I still had some recovery time at home, I had such a strong feeling of paying it forward that now I'm actually working here!

Nice atmosphere, it feels very comfortable. The food was average to a step up. Most of the staff is friendly, but there are definitely a few bad apples, mainly on third shift. I experienced some employee banter which you should not have to ever experience in a professional environment. If your loved one is on insulin please do not let them be cared for here. My Moms blood sugar was constantly high. They put her on a sliding scale and they could not handle it. I felt helpless as my mom laid there with high blood sugar (300-500 +) I would check it myself, and try to get her a shot and I got excuses such as "I'm not in charge" "I'm the only one here " to "I'm sorry we dont have any insulin for your mom tonight, maybe we will have some in the morning, but I'm not sure.I asked for a print out of her blood sugar records and never received it. I am finally relieved as she is going back home where I can monitor it myself. This is what I call neglect, I know there are staff issues everywhere. But I still must call it neglect....

I moved my mother here in February of 2019 and by June I moved her to Southfield Village. Sprenger is a beautiful facility, and they have a very caring staff. They seem to be very short handed. Most are doing multiple jobs, and not even related to what their title is. And I assume because of that things just don't get done or done right. Mom had many missed showers, medications weren't close to on time. Just tons of small issues. The organization of Southfield is night and day better in every respect.

After carefully reviewing a variety of facilities I decided to place my mother with Sprenger Health Care. My mother was very happy with the care, the rehabilitation facilities, and the food. My daughter and I visited daily and enjoyed eating lunches and dinners with my mother. The nurses were always attentive and supportive of my mother's needs and wishes. They answered my questions openly and honestly when asked. Like many of you, I only want the best care for my parents. The two weeks she spent there seemed to pass by very quickly. An additional note: My father was also transferred from St. Joseph Hospital to the Sprenger Health Care facility during the same time period as my mother. It was a very difficult time for both my parents and our family in general. However the Sprenger staff made a very difficult situation for our family into a labor of love and kindness. I left everyday knowing my parents would be safe and properly cared for. Hopefully, my mother will not need additional rehabilitation in the future. However, if the need arises I will not hesitate to secure the services that Sprenger Health Care has to offer.
