After some very disappointing experiences with one-size-fits-all assisted living facilities on the Monterey Peninsula, we found this fresh, immaculate four room care home. Owned by two RNs, it is located on a coastal bluff just north of Moss Landing, with views over the strawberry fields and Elkhorn Slough from its huge deck. The staff is very kind and patient, eager to personalize the experience for Mom, especially with food options. They are genuinely interested in her, in constant communication with us, and have gone above and beyond. We all can finally breathe a sigh of relief knowing she is in the best hands.

Beautiful, clean place for our parents to reside. Really lovely, caring and nice people too. The place was spotless. Probably the lightest, brightest place my mom has ever lived!

As a professional fiduciary, I needed to find a memory care home for my 90+ year old client who lives with dementia and is bedbound. I visited several residential care homes/memory care facilities in the greater Monterey Bay area. For this client, I needed a small place that offered exceptional care. My client had 24/7 care in her own home for the past 20 months, so I wanted to make sure she would receive the attention and care to which she was accustomed. I was attracted to the fact that Springfield Villa was a new residential care home, and the owners are nurses with combined experience of over 36 years. I understand that they have other care homes, but I am not aware of their locations. On my tour of the home in Moss Landing, I met the administrators of Springfield Villa LLC, Jan and Jen, along with Nelly, a caregiver. They were very welcoming and proud of their new board and care home. All the rooms and restrooms were clean and pleasant, but I was particularly drawn to one room that was bright and sunny most of the day. I knew it would be a great place for my client to rest and live the rest of her days. I felt like Jan and Jen were easily approachable, caring, and clinically knowledgeable. I decided to move my client into the home as their first resident. Yes, I took a risk because there is no track record or history of reviews, but I believed strongly in the people that would be providing care. The move-in was easy and straightforward. Hospice worked closely with the staff at Springfield Villa to ensure a smooth transition from home to facility. I was concerned about the initial transition, but my client adapted well and continues to be comfortable and content. She enjoys the meals and snacks that are served, and she interacts well with the staff. The staff brought their pet dog to visit her the first few days…that was a hit! Visitors are welcome 9-9. I don’t always provide advance notice of my visits, and I have not yet been disappointed. When I visit, my client is always clean and rested due to the attentive staff. Hospice still visits regularly, and the continuity of care has been smooth. I cannot comment on activities or community areas of the home because they are not part of my client’s care plan since she is bedbound. For that reason, I'm giving 4 stars rather than 5 because I cannot comment on services that I haven't had experience with. After 6 weeks, I can say that I made a good decision, and I am confident that my client is safe, comfortable, and well cared for. Don’t be fooled by the rural country roads and agricultural fields that surround the home, or the distance from Monterey/Salinas to Moss Landing. Springfield Villa focuses on providing exceptional care, and that’s what really matters.
