Summerfield of Encinitas is a community, not just a facility. My mother had had several health and memory challenges since her move-in as part of the natural disease process. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. Mercedes Margritz, the executive director is outstanding in facilitating all that is necessary to accomplish the needs of the residents, including my mother. She is accessible on weekends and off-hours, if needed. She welcomed my mother during a weekend move-in. She facilitated my mother's immediate assessment during a hospital discharge. She truly offers her best to us everyday!

Summerfield of Encinitas memory care has been Lovingly taking care of my sister for about five years. My sister has been suffering from dementia and I deeply appreciate Summerfield’s Consistent kindness and professionalism. The facility is clean inside and out. The patio and garden are peaceful and attractive. Patients are treated with kindness And Dignity by the caring staff.

My wife, with Alziemers, has been at Summerfield Encinitas for 2 months now. Her improvement in confusion & irritability is amazing. The staff is personal , kind , and very friendly. The routines, activities, diet, and exercise are all factors in her improved condition. I think the small size of the community gives a family feel too. I would highly recommend Summfield to anyone needing help with a loved one.

My mother has been at Summerfield for about 2 years. We chose it in large part due to the outdoor space and walk ways. Summerfield is unique in the amount of outdoor space available to the residents. Secondly the staff seemed caring and attentive. There have been times in the past when staffing per resident seemed low and we are hoping to see that improve as time moves forward with the new management. I see a lot of positive changes recently with Chris coming in as the new director. He is very hands on and I see him walking around the facility and engaged in how it is operating. He seems to be setting a much more attentive and structured tone to the facility and instilling a greater sense of responsibility with the staff. There are a lot more outings for the residents than with prior management and I see more attention being paid to the needs of the residents. In the time we have been here, so many of the staff have demonstrated a genuine caring and friendliness, in what has to be a very challenging job. They know residents by name, by habits and the family members that visit as well. This all adds to a friendly and caring environment. We are hopeful that things continue in this very positive direction to the benefit of all the residents and families that count on Summerfield to care for their loved ones.

Dementia is never easy. Knowing my Mother is safe and well taken care of gives me peace of mind. There have been recent changes to Summerfield that give me confidence of more engagement with activities and day trips. The Activities Director, Lexy and assistant Bailey are full of great ideas and also open to suggestions. Family is encouraged to join on the day trips and invited to fun events like football tailgate or March Madness, come in for an activity, the schedule is on an app for your phone. Food menu is posted each day in activities room. What caught my eye is the outside area walking path, lots of trees and flowers, benches and outside patio. Emails are returned, phone calls returned and an issue with my Mom was addressed and in the process of fine tuning on the very day. Chris is a very hands-on Executive Director. The care staff and med techs are very kind and work well together. You will be greeted with a smile at the front desk. One needs to tour many facilities before deciding on what place is right for your person. Summerfield felt right and now feels even better.
