The food quality at this facility is deeply disappointing. When sitting with my elderly grandmother—and really, any elder—I want their meals to feel nourishing, clean, and prepared with care. The food lacks flavor, freshness, and dignity, and my grandmother actively dislikes it. Even basic items are poorly handled. The coffee consistently goes cold almost immediately, which suggests it isn’t being brewed fresh or kept at proper serving temperature. For many residents, coffee is one of the few daily comforts, and this detail matters. It’s worth pausing to consider how many grandmothers and elders sit in that dining room—people who spent decades caring for families, hosting holidays, cooking treasured recipes, and nourishing others throughout their lives. To offer food and drink that feel careless at the end of life is profoundly disheartening. We live in a region with extraordinary access to fresh, seasonal ingredients and skilled culinary talent. I strongly urge management to hire a head chef or lead cook with real ownership to design a new menu and food supply chain—one rooted in fresh, seasonal ingredients, prepared simply and affordably. This is absolutely possible here and would meaningfully improve residents’ daily quality of life. I would also recommend more thoughtful staff scheduling, in consideration for staff, so caregivers are adequately supported and not burned out. The wellbeing of staff and the quality of food are directly tied to the dignity and comfort of residents.

One of the most difficult decisions to make is finding a HOME for your loved ones to receive care that is beyond your ability. Columbia Place Assisted Living is by far THE best place for my loved ones. Our first introduction to the quality of Columbia Place came through our interaction with Juli Lau, the Director of Marketing. She is a great listener, truly cares about each resident and family member, and always goes above and beyond to make sure that the residents receive the best experience possible. That is the common theme with Columbia Place. The entire staff gets to know each resident personally and makes sure that they are receiving the best care possible. It is also very comforting to know that there are 2 nurses on staff, Rebecca and Brianna, and they are great partners when it comes to coordinating care for my loved ones. The med techs are exceptionally attentive and continually report if they have any concerns about your specific family member. Stephanie, the activities director ensures that there is music and activities weekly to keep the residents entertained. The food is delicious, and Daisy, the main chef ensures that there are menu options even for the pickiest of appetites. The executive director, Evan Windsor is also a great listener, communicator and wonderfully open to suggestions. He is very easy to talk to. Thank you Columbia for all that you do, and may everyone experience this facility as positively as we have. It is so comforting to know that my family is experiencing the best possible care available!

If I could give zero stars I would. After searching many assisted living places for my mother we decided on this one. The facility and rooms are nice and most of the staff are very friendly. That’s where the good things end. Shortly after moving in my mother’s health took a turn for the worse. She was unable to go down to the dining room for her meals because of pain so we paid extra (a lot extra) to have her meals brought to her room. There were multiple days where I would show up after work and she had gone without food because they didn’t brought her anything. They also missed giving her medication which we paid an awful lot for them to manage. It seems as though they have a hard time keeping enough stuff to properly care for the residents. The management and billing department are atrocious! We were over billed EVERY month! Constantly had to contact the billing department to try to get things straightened out. My mother was finally diagnosed with leukemia so it was clear she wasn’t going to get any better. She decided to do hospice and it was clear that they were not capable of taking care of her. We decided to move her out because of medical reasons and they would not let her end her lease for medical purposes so we had to pay another full months rent of several thousand dollars even though she wasn’t even there. Our experience there was awful. Especially after it was taken over by Prestige. All the bills we had were paid in full when we moved her out. My mother passed away 6 months ago. Tonight my sister tells me that she just got a bill in the mail for my mother for $2200 from guess who. We moved my mom out of there 7 and a half months ago, she’s been gone from this earth for six months. We haven’t received any bills from them since then until today. We wish we had never set foot in that place. What an awful experience. They sure appear to care much more about getting your money than they do about caring for their residents.
