I do not recommend Summit Place of South Park Assisted Living. My father lived at Summit Place from October 2022 until June 2024. Prior to June 2024, he was able to walk without a walker and manage most daily activities independently. In June 2024, during a COVID outbreak, the call bell system in the facility stopped working. Summit Place failed to inform our family that the call bells were inoperable. At the same time, the facility was understaffed, with high staff turnover and frequent lack of response to residents’ needs. As a result, my father experienced multiple falls and had no way to call for assistance. In one instance, he was forced to call 911 himself due to the lack of response from staff. Following these repeated falls and neglect, my father’s health declined rapidly. He lost the ability to walk, his dementia worsened, and he was transferred to a nursing home and later placed on hospice. My father has since passed. I believe his life was cut short due to the lack of care and neglect he experienced at Summit Place. My father paid thousands of dollars a month for a room with working call bells, adequate staffing, and basic safety. He did not receive those things. No family should have to wonder how long their loved one lay on the floor after a fall, unable to call for help. Summit Place’s understaffing, failure to maintain critical safety systems, and lack of accountability contributed to irreversible harm. Families considering this facility should ask very hard questions about staffing levels, emergency systems, and transparency before entrusting them with a loved one’s care. Our family repeatedly raised concerns with facility leadership and corporate management and NC state, but Summit Place refused to take responsibility. They were largely non-responsive and offered only a very minimal partial refund, which did not begin to address the severity of what occurred. It was only after I posted a public review in January 2025 that upper management responded and agreed to reimburse some costs. That reimbursement was then tied to a strict non-disclosure settlement agreement, which multiple attorneys advised me not to sign. Despite repeated requests, I was never allowed to speak directly with their legal department and was told to communicate only via email.

A 5 Star Experience! This week we toured both the assisted living and memory care levels, and it was excellent! A Christmas party was going on, they were playing the piano, etc. Without a doubt, it is worth 5 stars!

I just toured Summit Place of Southpark and I am so impressed with this facility. We met with Meredith who was kind, knowledgeable, and cheerfully answered all of our many questions. During the tour we found the common areas to be bright, spacious, and clean. There were a variety of apartment layouts and we especially liked the one bedroom for our family member. The personnel and residents all seemed pleasant. I especially liked that the residents seemed engaged with the staff, one another, and activities. I rate Summit Place with an A+.

Summit Place of South Park has been a blessing for our family. The staff is compassionate, attentive, and truly treats residents like family. The environment is clean, welcoming, and full of engaging activities. We have complete peace of mind knowing our loved one is in such great hands.

After a few short weeks my Mom is throughly enjoying her life at Summit after resisting assisted living. From the extra attentive staff to the beautiful accommodations her quality of life has been totally enhanced. The vast array of activities offered has breathed new life into her. So very happy we made this choice.
