SUNDANCE AT WOODCREEK RESERVE

We have made a three year journey with Woodcreek Bend and I have no hesitation at all recommending it. For the most part the care givers are amazing and that is what really counts. Yes there has been quite a bit of turnover in management and to some degree in caregivers as well. JD has been on board as Executive Director for a while now. The current team seems to be settled in and working well together. Staff at all levels is very responsive. Most, if not all of the staff knows each resident well and their individual circumstances which is greatly appreciated.

I recently had the opportunity to visit this community and was pleased to see the interaction between caregivers and residents that live here. I saw kindness and smiles. The doors were open in the dining room to the enclosed outdoor spaces. It was a beautiful afternoon - everyone was relaxing and eating popcicles. Great way to spend an afternoon.

There are some great staff here and some not so great staff here. If you’re not frequently coming for visits and voicing your concerns your family member is going to experience some sort of problem. As a family member you need to be present often. I suggest putting a camera in your families room as well. Staff needs to check on residents more, clean their bedding as they are laying in urine and feces..which I have witnessed myself with my family member in a few occasions. I have witnessed staff threatening residents and antagonizing them. When these things come up I report to necessary staff and it is usually handled. There is soooo much staff turnover though, including admin, that you have no clue who to even speak to. Poor staff to resident ratio. It’s not the worst place but not the best. PLEASE be involved as a family member to ensure your loved one is being properly cared for.

My husband has been at WoodCreek Bend for 2 months. Most of the leadership staff is new to this facility in the last year, but they all have a lot of experience. I chose WoodCreek Bend because they are so committed to make this a top Memory Care facility in Katy, lots of enthusiasm, new ideas and activities, and a caring can-do approach. The meals are home cooked and delicious, with great housekeeping and maintenance. The place is large enough for your loved one to get their exercise walking inside plus there is a large paved courtyard. There is family night once a month and they make it special. The care staff are caring and approachable. It is also a great value for the facility and area. Be aware older reviews don't really apply since so many wonderful changes have been made.

The community is just lovely. They are currently doing renovations such as painting and new carpet, which keeps things fresh and nice looking. The Montessori approach is by far the best thing about this community! Seeing memory care residents actively engaging in self care activities like serving juice to their friends, wiping down the table before lunch, and hanging their own clothes just blows my mind! The staff here at the community truly care about the residents and nurture them as if they were family.
