Don’t fall for the salesman’s pitch! It looks great before you move in, but it quickly goes downhill. From the day we moved our mother in, there were problems. She is supposed to get a shower twice a week, on certain days of the week, and that rarely happens. The front desk is frequently empty, or doesn’t answer the phone, and you can’t talk to a live person. During emergencies, when I have tried to call, no one answered the phone. The med tech on-duty during the evening is supposed to answer the phone, but her voice mailbox has not been set up. They agreed to go get our mother at meal times to remind her to eat, but often they don’t do that, and then she doesn’t eat. She needs to eat with some of her medications, so this is a necessity. They won’t do simple things like putting in her hearing aids in the morning, and charging them in the evening. Before we moved her in, they promised us they would help her with anything that was ordered by a doctor. After we moved her in, they went back on that and refuse to give her the daily care they promised she would receive. We have tried to work with them to resolve these problems. Each time we talk to them, they improve for a little bit, but eventually they just revert back to the same behavior. The reason that I even gave this facility one star is because it is neat and clean. It’s new, and the staff are truly caring. The problem is they are understaffed and management is not handling the situation.

I can not say enough good things about Sunshine Springs and all the Staff. Visited with Dameon McCain in April of 2025. He was so personable and kind. Understood the issues having at the facility my Mom was living in a that time. On the tour he answered every question & concern I had. Mom absolutely loves her new place. It is so clean & bright. Very handicap friendly. We had some installations to be done & Roger Dishman was quick to do so. Lesley Donovan - Executive Director is so good with just not the residents, but their family also. The facility keeps the residents busy with activities, which is what Mom needed. They not only have activities indoors, but take trips to shop, nail salon & go out to eat. I love that some of the activities are resident lead. Other people who are so wonderful & need recognition: Activity Director : Allison Rinehart. She plans the best activities & will go to the residents rooms to remind them to come down. She also cuts & styles their hair & does a great job. Director of Resident Services: Kim Courtney. Anytime I have reached out to Kim she is quick to respond & is always shows concern. I knew her from where Mom was before & she was wonderful there also. Culinary Director: Natasha McCoy is such a great Chef. The meals she prepares are restaurant worthy. I know because have ate with Mom before. Even the Med Techs, Housekeeping & PT staff love the residents & actually seem happy to be working there. Thank you so much to all for welcoming Mom & making her feel safe & comfortable. Took a big worry off of me.

I have to start by saying that when you are looking for a place for your loved ones, you have to have a place that will take care of your family as if they were their family. This facility is just that. The care staff here is impeccable, Amanda in particular, when we first came here a lady was outside raving about Amanda and how she took care of her husband in memory care. When this same lady lost her husband I witnessed this med tech come and hug her before doing anything else, and make sure she was okay. My aunt has been in this facility on the assisted living side for maybe a month and she said amanda was not only kind to her but made her feel safe, and everytime we ask her for anything she always goes above and beyond. I can’t say enough about the staff and Amanda and thank y’all for making my aunt feel safe and secure in her new home.

As a family, we were searching recently for a clean and modern facility to place my dementia father-in-law. Being from Charlotte, NC our first choice was to look in the Charlotte region; however, most of the facilities were older and out of our budget. We then began researching memory care facilities in SC. To our amazement and excitement, we found Sunflower Springs of Lake Wylie, SC. It is a brand-new ALF and Memory Care complex located off a main highway making it very accessible. We set up a tour of the facility. We were so impressed with the lay-out of the facility, the cleanliness of it, and the professionalism and friendliness of the staff that we immediately knew that this was the facility we wanted our family member to be part of. We met with Dameon McCain, Director of Sales, who was very professional and kind. He was thorough and informative on the necessary steps to admit my father-in-law. We then met the Executive Director, Lesley Donovan. We were thrilled to learn Lesley was the new Executive Director of the Sunflower because she was an executive director at another facility years ago in NC where my father-in-law resided. We knew how professional, kind, and attentive to the residents and families she was prior to Sunflower. Therefore, we were ecstatic to learn she was the director of this facility. We knew with Lesley at the helm of this complex, it would be managed very efficiently and with a professional, friendly staff. We admitted my father-in-law to Sunflower and have found everything I have mentioned here to be true. The staff has been really so kind and attentive. Lesley gives of her time to hug the residents, talk to them, and makes each resident feel loved. I observed today how one memory care resident was so confused, but Lesley took the time to talk to the female as she Lesley gave her the dinner meal. The woman looked at Lesley giving her a smile of thankfulness. Lesley smiled back and hugged her. Lesley understands our senior citizens. Sometimes the non-verbal actions such as a smile and a hug speak louder than any words. We left our visit to my father-in-law feeling assured that he is in the best facility knowing that the executive director is professional, loving and kind. Her great attitude trickles down to all employees. We feel blessed! Bonnie Williams Charlotte, NC

Since the opening of Sunflower springs at Lake Wylie, I have been exceptionally pleased with the service I've received from the management and staff. I can truthfully say that any concerns that came up since my wife moved in have been addressed immediately and positively by Lesley Donovan and Dameon McCain. The staff has seen to it that my wife is responsibly looked after and cared for. This isn't my first go round with a memory care facility, but I can say it is, without a doubt the best one I've had. Jay, Helina, Joe, Lorie, Marie just to name a few have done a wonderful job of making my wife comfortable.
